This is an old, renovated milk barn on a working farm. Both of the sleeping spaces are lofts that require climbing stabilized, vertical wooden ladders. There is a wood stove, running water, kitchen, living room & bathroom.
“Toby, and Toby’s place is great. Rio was there to greet me when I arrived and made sure I had everything I needed (after already emailing me all the info - very thorough.) I met Toby as I drove down the driveway (so welcoming) and she stopped over my first night to check in/make sure I was comfortable and let me know she was there to help, if needed.) The place is exactly as pictured and if you’ve seen the pictures and read the description and are reading this review - do it...book it now! I live in Manhattan and needed (and receive) a gorgeous, calm and peaceful retreat - it delivered!”
Victorian Haven is located near the Shawangunk Mountains that extends for over 20 miles and reaches 2,200 feet in height at Sam's point, the highest elevation on the ridge. In addition, the Wallkill River provides unspoiled and picturesque spots for hiking, fishing and/or picnics. Gardiner has a beautiful rail trail that follows the path of the 1860's railroad and provides a great opportunity to hike, bike or ski.
“Victorian Haven is sparkling clean and extremely comfortable. The home was stocked with amenities and any item you think you may need. It was cool all day and night, even as temperatures reached 90 degrees. There are 2 powerful air conditioners although we did not need to use them. The sunken living room had a delightful ceiling fan and the window entertained us with various lights and shadows throughout the day. From the relaxing deck on Walkill River, we saw deer, foxes, groundhogs, waterfowl, birds and lots of fish. We spent most of our 3 days here on the private deck. When we weren't on the deck, we were enjoying the area's farm stands, wineries, bbq, and swimming holes. The neighbors were friendly and so was the host. When we couldn't figure out the wi-fi, George , the host's father drove down to assist immediately. I really appreciate that. No need to look any further. This home is much more beautiful than in the photos and the value you get is unbeatable. Please keep the home clean as they don't charge a cleaning fee. Thank you! We hope to be back.”
If you've been looking for the tiny house experience, look no further. Michelle and Chris built this tiny house to live as eco-friendly, comfy, and healthy as possible. Built with only non-toxic and all natural materials with a state of the art fresh-air system. Enjoy wildlife or relaxing at the river bend on our 5-acre property or explore the awesome attractions close by: county pool, winery, New Paltz downtown, “gunks” rock climbing, Minnewaska State Park, and more!
“Chris & Michelle’s tiny house is really impressive. Despite its size, it’s very efficient with space, not lacking amenities, and comfortable. (Even with less space, my girlfriend and I were able to happily live there for a week and managed not to kill each other.) The meadow out front is so peaceful; we’ll miss sitting out there in the mornings and evenings. The highlights for us were Chris & Michelle’s hospitality (they’re fantastic hosts), the eco-friendliness of the stay, and the convenient location near New Paltz & the Mohonk/Minnewaska area.”
