Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom.
“Beautiful cottage looks like a fairy tale house, so many tiny thoughtful decorations, the design of the place is great. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook there, fireplace in the main room added to a cozy experience. We even made some wood fire pizza in the outdoor oven, was a great cooking time. You can see forest when you wake up and what a surprise was to see sheep and their babies in the company of a white lama outside the window in the morning, full farm experience, amazing. We definitely recommend it, it is one of those hidden gems that inspire you. Thank you Alexis and Manny.”

“My gf and I didn't really know what to expect of Mayne Island and the cottage, but it seemed nice, and so we decided to book it, and we were very glad we did! The location is right in the middle of the island, so it was pretty easy getting anywhere we wanted to go by bike (though the island is hilly, so it's a good workout!). The cottage was much more than we expected. Located on a large property in the middle of a forest, it was nice and quiet, serene, and a perfect escape from the busy, loud, and crowded city life. The hosts' house was a good distance away so we had a lot of privacy. Outside was a hammock, and some outdoor chairs that were perfect for relaxing in. On the porch is a good sized table for 2 that we had our breakfasts at in the morning, and played board games on in the evening. Inside was a huge selection of old vhs and dvds with a tv and player, which we thought was great, especially when you light the wood furnace to make it warm and cozy. There was also a small selection of games in case you didn't bring any. Kitchen had all the things you might need, and showers were nice and hot. Michele was awesome to interact with as well. Within hours of booking, my trip was confirmed and I was in contact with her discussing details. She was very sweet to leave us some fresh eggs from their chickens, which we thought was a very welcoming gesture. Bonus points for the 3 friendly and adorable golden retrievers that came out to meet us and hang out at times. More bonus points for the very friendly atmosphere from all the island residents. 10/10 - Would book again, and would definitely recommend to anyone looking to unwind and escape their busy lives! Thanks again Michele and Brian!”

“I thoroughly enjoyed staying in this truly magical place! Every little detail was so well thought of, every possible need you might have while staying there is fulfilled, and both Shanti and Don are very caring hosts. The sweet cob house and the surroundings are very healing, and the farm is one of the most beautiful ones I've ever seen. I felt like I stepped into the set of the Lord of the Rings movie -- so so pristine and beautiful! Shanti was super helpful whenever I needed anything (I stayed there over two weeks), she has a big and caring heart, and I am just full of gratitude for the experience! If you can go there, do so, it is a unique place, you will love it.”
