Seeking a discreet, stylish medina hideaway in Marrakech? medinaRose, a boutique beauty with a rooftop pool and chic open plan living spaces, is a riad home-from-home so lovely you’ll be tempted to keep it secret. It’s run by a Brit and his French girlfriend who fell in love with Morocco; after a few nights here, you might find the same happens to you…
“We had such a brilliant time at Medina Rose! The riad was in the perfect location - just 15 minutes walk from the main square and in a peaceful location - the perfect tranquil oasis. The riad is beautifully styled and contained everything we could need - we particularly enjoyed hanging out on the terrace upstairs. The lovely Saida was there for our arrival and cooked us a tasty tagine the first night and good breakfasts each morning. Gareth was a really great host, he responded quickly to messages and helped arrange taxi transfers to and from the airport. He gave lots of great recommendations in the information pack and was super helpful when we thought our flight home may be cancelled. I would highly recommend staying in this riad - would definitely stay again if we return to Marrakech.”

“We have stayed in Airbnb’s all over the world, and Khalid and his riad in Marrakech is the BEST experience we have ever had with Airbnb. He is a gem and a true super host. First, about Khalid: warm, gracious, and very responsive and helpful at every step of the process. He arranged a driver to meet us at the airport and that was included in the price. He is a kind, knowledgeable and helpful host who was exceptionally communicative. He prepared a delicious Moroccan breakfast for us every day, answered our questions , practices Arabic with us, arranged sightseeing trips for us outside the City and met us personally at arrival and checkout. Your own personal 5-star concierge—seriously. We mean it—the best (and we have had some truly great Airbnb spaces and hosts over the years). Next, Khalid’s place: immaculate, charming, comfortable with three full floors, including the sunny and private roof deck. Even in chilly January we were able to enjoy the sunshine. The unit is very quiet and peaceful, even though the hustle and bustle is steps away. The beds and pillows are quite firm but the comforters very soft and cozy. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the bathrooms were all spotless. City water pressure is not the greatest but we had nice hot water. The riad is not heated but does have a wood burning fireplace and space heater for bedroom. When our space heater broke, Khalid replaced it with a new one the same day. The riad option is so much nicer than a hotel. The location: again superb. Down a quiet alley way, it is near a Royal Palace in the Dar El Bacha neighborhood. This neighborhood has more local shops than tourist shops so it’s a bit more authentic. It’s a good 15-20 minute walk to Jemma al Afna square, but every route to get to the square is interesting, colorful, and bustling almost from the moment you leave Khalid’s alley. Taxi’s are easy to find. Getting to the main square during the day was easy, but getting home after dinner at the night market (a must!) was sometimes a challenge as with the shops close you lose your landmarks, and google maps is not very accurate in the Médina, so prepared to get lost. From Khalid’s, it’s an easy taxi to Yves-Saint-Laurent Museum and gardens—a must. We loved El Badi palace and Palais Bahia—Saadi tombs was ok but that’s one to skip if you are pressed for time. There is so much to see and do. Khalid arranged a day trip for us to Ouzoud Waterfalls and we had a great driver and Berber guide once we were there. Marrakech is generally safe everywhere we went—just don’t let someone try to guide you home. Ask a shop owner and don’t meet the street touts hustle you. We had a wonderful visit thanks to Khalid’s attentiveness and the charming riad. Book now. We will be back!”
