Nestled in Hiva Oa, Marquesas Islands, made famous by painter Paul Gauguin and singer Jacques Brel who are buried here, on 1,5 acres of land, facing the Pacific Ocean, a comfortable "fare" (house in Maori) in the archeological valley of TAAOA.
“(Comment in French below) Rarely have I stayed at such an exceptional location (and I am a "seasoned" traveler!) ... Bruno's place is nothing short of phenomenal and the view on the Taaoa Bay will blow your mind. It is isolated enough to make you feel on another planet; and close enough to the village (by car or electric bike) to be convenient. There is a nice beach just 5mn away by bike - (10 or 15mn walk). The place is gorgeous, there is a lot of space, there is a lot of space in the room, you are in the room Marquesas, dont forget) ... It's up to a very steep hill, so you'll have to get used to it. But what is Tui, Bruno's local nephew who places the place. I'm sure I had everything I needed and I needed everything about the island's culture and things to do. To have the opportunity to meet someone who is truly special. The only downside, if I'm really hard to find one, is the constant cackling of the cocks, from 430am to 10pm - but that's an island wide issue, and actually it is the same on most polynesian islands (I am in Papeete right now and it is the same) ... And in any case you'll quickly get used to it, and you'll quickly get into the rhythm of waking up, like the locals, at 5 or 6 am to enjoy the sunrise on the bay from Bruno's gorgeous terrace and feel truly blessed. An absolutely magical place (and I saw a package) - Bruno's house is beautiful, the view of Taaoa Bay is breathtaking, there is all the necessary equipment and the wifi works well (keeping in mind that we are in the Marquesas;) ... It is isolated enough to feel on another planet, and close enough to the village (by car or electric bike) to be practical. There is a beautiful and almost deserted beach a few minutes walk or bike ride. It is at the top of a very steep slope so you have to be sporty - but anyway you absolutely have to rent an electric bike or a car to enjoy the island, so it's not a subject. What makes the stay even more magical is the presence and the welcome of the very friendly Tui, the nephew of Bruno who manages the house. He knows his island very well and takes a real pleasure in sharing his knowledge of the local culture and his advice for visits. A truly exceptional host !!! In short, the best Airbnb I have visited for a long time.”
In the Tahauku Valley, a few hundred meters from the port of Hiva Oa Island, and a 5-minute drive from the village of Atuona, Inake Lodge is peaceful and comfortable in the heart of nature. Alone, as a couple, with family or with a few friends, Inake Lodge is the ideal place for your stay in the Marquesas. What could be more pleasant than finding a friendly and comfortable environment after a day of excursion or work?
“The house is very clean and fully equipped. It is quiet and you can enjoy the pool. For those who want to go to the center of the village, it will take a little time to walk if you do not have a car but it is very easy to hitchhike. Everyone stops easily to take you. A very good place to have a good stay.”
Two-storey house located on the heights of the Tahauku valley. From the terrace, a magnificent panoramic view of green vegetation. The house has 4 bedrooms. A magnificent setting in which you will keep a very beautiful memory of HIVA-OA.
“Warm welcoming with flowers at the airport and a welcome drink on the terrasse. The room were spacious. We had interesting talk and a lovely stay. Enjoy.”
