It is on the top floor (that's why we call it The Penthouse) giving amazing 270 degree views over the roof tops of the surrounding mountains. From the living room there are outstanding views over the town and of Skiddaw and Latrigg. And of Derwentwater, Borrowdale Valley and the surrounding mountains from the kitchen.

Lovely self contained apartment, private entrance, key pad access. Large en-suite king-size room with vaulted ceiling, relaxing chairs for reading, fluffy towels, robes and luxury products. Beautiful garden with BBQ/wood burning-stove. Bassenthwaite Lake is short walk and The Royal Oak pub is in the next village (Braithwaite) just over 1 mile away. The X5 bus runs past the door to Cockermouth, Workington to the west and to Keswick via Braithwaite (the pub). Great reviews and superhost.

We are a nature friendly farm at the foot of Catbells. Great walking straight from the door. We cater for walkers and cyclists who will appreciate the peace and quiet of the location. The accommodation is very basic with a small kitchen area, a wood burning stove, 3 single mattresses, and a double bed on the mezzanine. The bathroom is next to the camping barn, and there is a washing up area outside.

Thornythwaite Farm is in Matterdale which is a peaceful valley off the beaten track but with great access to all the popular areas of the Lakes. Just back from three nights and we had such a wonderful time. The property is in a great location with it being walking distance to bowness but also secluded. Kitchen amenities all great, excellent spec bathroom and very clean all round. We had a couple of questions which were answered very quickly. Highly recommend and we will be booking again.

This lovely little place was perfect for a stop over. The accommodation was actually more nice in person. The beds were comfy and the kitchen well equipped. Really easy to find and the host communicated really well. Thankyou for the eggs and milk 🙂 I would recommend to anyone, and I’d definitely stay here again.

It was a great home to make our base to the Lakes. Windermere is about 45 mins drive. the house had more bedroom than we expected, decent kitchen, 3 bathrooms and local superstores about 4 minutes drive. Free on street parking may not be found always outside the house but never more than a minute's walk away. the small patio at the back was nice right outside the kitchen. Definately good value for money!
