Cottage vacation rentals in Lanchester

We had a lovely couple of days at Laburnum Cottage, it’s a beautiful cottage and location. Hopefully we’ll get back one day.

Genuinely amazing little place to stay, in a beautiful part of the world. We were even greeted with a lemon drizzle cake :) 10/10 would recommend!

Julia was a brilliant host from booking until check out! The cottage was absolutely stunning and so was the surrounding areas. Julia was very friendly and helpful, we went as a group of work friends and was being a little too loud without realising, Julia was understanding and just politely asked if we could quieten a little outside due to neighbours, to which we apologised and enjoyed our night. I would definitely return in the future, hopefully with the family for a longer stay. Thank you so much Julia!!!!!

We’ve had the most wonderful time staying here. The Loft is spotless, beautifully decorated and has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. The views from the hot tub are breathtaking , it’s genuinely like stepping into a postcard! The perfect location for exploring The Dales. Claire and Neil are very welcoming and thoughtful, providing great recommendations. We’d thoroughly recommend staying here and would not hesitate to book again! Thank you for having us x

We enjoyed a great break in Peewit Cottage, which was spotless and had everything you need. The surroundings were well looked after and amenities great. The little touches, including the welcome pack (best we’ve had and included the dog!) and Prosecco and strawberries to enjoy in the hot tub were thoughtful and lovely. All the information you need is provided prior to arrival or readily available within the cottage. We used the cottage as a base to visit local attractions, all easily accessible by car. Glen was both very welcoming and helpful. Would definitely recommend and somewhere we would return to. Thank you, Jacqueline!

Positives are that the hosts were great and the location is perfect for the town and beautiful walks. Great amenities in the house Negatives would be that the front rooms are noisy at night (unless windows are shut) and the house is dark throughout

Our stay was one of the best we have had. The house was really nice and cosy and the garden was great to relax in....just the birdsong and peace and quiet. The villiage is so picturesque and the the surrounding area is beautiful with lot's of great walks We would definitely return. Phil. Emma and Hamish

Could not fault The Hemmel at all. Absolutely beautiful. The accommodation, surroundings and view was exceptional. Ezra our labradoodle loved the enclosed garden. From the greeting off Kate, the beautiful homemade cake and flowers left for us, watching the red squirrel and the beautiful Northumbrian countryside and beaches, there was nothing we did not like about our stay. If we decide to come back to this neck of the woods, this would be our first pick. Five stars and beyond.

I had a wonderful two-week stay here while volunteering at the Magna excavation, which is a three-minute drive away. I would unreservedly recommend Graeme's place to any volunteer excavators or to those looking for a base from which to explore Hadrian's Wall. There's a really nice pub at the end of the road, and Thirlwall Castle is a 10-minute stroll away. The home would sleep 4 very comfortably, the kitchen has everything I needed to self-cater for a couple of weeks, and the bathtub and fireplace were the perfect antidote to a day's digging.

Beautiful cottage 5 mins from beach. Very clean and tidy, milk in fridge on arrival for a much needed cuppa. Good communication from Nick. Would stay again.

Lovely property, in a lovely village. Well equipped - even a welcome basket for the dogs. Friendly locals with a few places to see. Plenty of places to walk with the dogs. Good food at the local cafe. Village also had several EV chargers.

We had a lovely stay! The place was tidy, well-equipped, and had everything we needed for a comfortable visit. We did experience a couple of minor issues, like some sockets not working and a brief problem with the hot water boiler. However, the host was extremely helpful and quick to respond, and everything was sorted out promptly. Really appreciated the support — it made all the difference. Would happily recommend this place to others!

Anna’s place is a quiet, pretty, authentic stone cottage overlooking farmland in a most wonderful place close to the river Tees. Very comfortable lounge and a practical large hallway for boots, walking gear and dog accessories. Beautiful bed linen and spacious rooms. A generous welcome pack too. We had a variety of wonderful walks to enjoy with our dog. Anna was very attentive and accessible. We have had the most wonderful, peaceful holiday and highly recommend it.

Great host and nice place to stay. Peter is very responsive and helpful. The cottage is clean and cozy. Highly recommended to enjoy a fabulous sunrise at the very nearby beach.

Beautiful cottage, perfect for our stay in Great Ayton. The cottage was spotless and it was such a pleasure to stay there. Yvonne is such a welcoming host and was so accommodating for us. Very responsive and easy to communicate with. She made our stay there so easy!

An extremely quite peaceful location close to Hadrians Wall (100 meters)

We loved our stay at this cottage! It’s beautiful and peaceful and the hosts couldn’t be nicer! They have thought of everything including extra touches as well as any essentials you could need during your trip. Left croissants, chocolate, bread, eggs, prosecco and even homemade scones with jam and cream just to name a few. Susan came with some chocolate for our toddler on departure and Jim brought lambs for us to feed 2 mornings which our little boy was absolutely thrilled with. Thank you so much Susan and Jim! We will be recommending the cottage to everyone!

Wow! What a fantastic stay at Lanehead. This place has already become one of our favourite locations to stop. The property was spotlessly clean with plenty of utensils to use and a fantastic shower. The bed was really corny with a superb view to wake up to out of the long window. This is a dog Glover’s paradise, as there is an enclosed garden for dogs to explore. The added bonus is the two horses that come to say hello, who are obviously best friends. Location is amazing, with plenty to explore, great walks And great places to eat. We particularly enjoyed walking around Richmond and the castle. I can highly recommend the Kingshead hotel for lovely food and a friendly pint. The eagle at Gilling West was also nice. Thank you so much for a fantastic day. We booked again after only being there for 12 hours .

The little extras you left for us on arrival were wonderful, and welcoming. As we arrived a little early, and you were still there, you couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. It was lovely to meet you. The standard of books strewn around the house and the artwork on the walls was definitely a cut above the average! An interesting and engaging addition to the stay. Absolutely loved our long weekend break at Terri's cottage. It was everything we needed it to be for relaxation and local walks. Cottage was really cosy and comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped and the space worked perfectly for us as a family of 4 with 2 dogs. The lovely enclosed back garden meant we didn't have to worry about the dogs. Everyone slept really well due to comfy beds and quality bed linen. Definitely would recommend this cottage and hope to visit again as didn't manage to do all the walks we would have liked to.

Excellent time at Michael’s cottage in beautiful surroundings. Accommodating of extra requests from our side and very responsive throughout our stay. All in all, a fantastic weekend away!
