Other things to note
A Tranquil Escape at Lake Saiko

Just 90 minutes from central Tokyo, Lake Saiko sits 900 meters above sea level and offers a peaceful retreat surrounded by untouched nature. With minimal commercial development, the area retains its natural beauty—on a lakeside stroll, enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Fuji, the lush Aokigahara Forest, and the lake’s cobalt-blue waters. Wildlife such as deer and Japanese serows can sometimes be seen nearby.

Lake Saiko is famous for the rediscovery of the once-extinct Kunimasu trout. To protect its rich ecosystem, motorboats are not allowed, so the calm, mirror-like waters are perfect for fishing, kayaking, or stand-up paddleboarding. The lake’s 10 km circumference also makes it great for walking, jogging, or cycling.

Nearby Highlights

Saiko Iyashi no Sato Nenba: A thatched-roof village with stunning Mount Fuji views, especially during cherry blossom season.

Natural wonders like the Narusawa Ice Cave, Fugaku Wind Cave, and the vast Aokigahara Forest.

Kawaguchiko (5 min by car) and famous photo spots like Arakurayama Sengen Park and Nishiura Street (30 min by car).

In winter, enjoy easy access to Snow Park Yeti, Fujiten Snow Resort, and Kamui Misaka Ski Resort.

From serene nature to seasonal activities, Lake Saiko is the perfect base to experience the beauty of Mount Fuji and beyond.
