This is one of the few places in the area with free parking.
Ever slept in a tree house with an amazing view of two lakes, a mountain range and endless green? Welcome at my home - am living off the grid settled in a peaceful community for the last eight years.
A simple life that will give you goosebumps of joy! 75% for the night is supporting Toonda Cultural Center.
Start a campfire, order a candle-lit dinner, enjoy a massage, embrace the sounds of nature, roll out the yoga mat and take a bite of pineapples, avocados from my garden.

The space
It’s living off the grid, but don’t panicky
Your tree house on stilts got its own solar panels and you can charge your electronic devices.

Snuggle up in the huge king size mattress and let fresh air in through the large French doors.
If needed, another mattress can be added to the floor if you are traveling as a group. There is light and electricity in the room thanks to solar power.
You are also free to light up your bonfire just in front.
Right next to the bedroom is the bathroom. with a non-smelly compost toilet, a sink and a small water tank to imitate running water.
Take a shower outdoors just next to your cottage in our bamboo shower. Hot showers on request can be organized.
We are happy to prepare a delicious, healthy breakfast with local products (fruit, spanish omelette, coffee, tea) for an extra charge of 15.000 Shilling per person, prepared and served on your terrace or in bed by one of our community members.
During the day you will find drinking water as well as hot water for tea and coffee in the kitchen.
Please be aware that the kitchen is private and not open to visitors to use. Take your holiday „serious“ and enjoy the amazing local and very affordable food of our neighbors 🤗
We offer community tours to the lakes and Mahoma Falls as well as explorations tours for vanilla and coffee.
We also offer SUP boards for 60k for two hours.
At our Toonda Cultural Community Center you can learn basket weaving, dancing or drumming, each activity 40k.
You can play volleyball and table tennis free of charge and are invited to use pir community library. Free movie nights on Fridays.

Guest access
You have your own wooden house with bathroom and private outdoor area. If you are interested, you are welcome to join us at the fire further up on the same site. Alternatively, we will be happy to build your own private campfire.

Where you’ll be

Fort Portal, Western Region, Uganda

You will stay in a small friendly settlement on the slope of a large lake in the Crater Lakes region of Fort Portal. Gentle, lush green hills and in between about 50-60 lakes.

Distances:
Lake for swimming, boating, paddling: right in front of you.
Fort Portal: about 30-45 minutes
Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest: 45 minutes
Queen Elizabeth Park: 2-2.5 hours
Lake Mburo: 4 hours

I am an author and emigrated from northern Germany to the Crater Lakes in Fort Portal, Uganda in 2018. Here I am committed to my neighborhood and have built the Toonda Cultural Community Center in our village of Kyakataama. You are welcome to come for drumming, dancing, painting, open air cinema under the starry sky... or just enjoy the peace and quiet . As you like. I am always happy when I can infect visitors with my love for the region.
