Welcome to Kookaburra Cottage - a peaceful hideaway surrounded by towering forest just minutes from Nannup. If you're craving quiet mornings, birdsong, fresh air, or afternoons under the trees, this is the retreat in nature you've been looking for.

Wake up to kookaburras laughing in the treetops. Step outside onto your private deck overlooking the Blackwood River and breathe in the fresh cool forest air. Wander the grounds, explore the surrounds, watch the wildlife, or simply enjoy stillness.

The space
The Kookaburra Cottage is one of 6 cabins on a private nature reserve just minutes from Nannup. Simple yet functional, the cabin is a private, warm and welcoming one-bedroom cottage surrounded by towering forests with an expansive verandah overlooking the Blackwood River.

What you'll enjoy:
— a comfortable bedroom with forest views and a king bed complete with linens, spare blankets and an electric blanket for chilly Nannup evenings
— a spacious bathroom with a shower + bathroom essentials
— a relaxed lounge area for reading, resting, or listening to the sounds of the bush
— a private deck to enjoy your morning coffee or evening wine
— a kitchen equipped for slow breakfasts and simple dinners with a stove top, mini-electric oven, air-fryer and fridge
— reverse cycle-air conditioning for year-round comfort, ceiling fans, electric blankets and an electric log fire for ambience
— a fully undercover verandah with sofa, armchairs, beer ledge and an electric BBQ
— 15 minutes by car from Nannup, with the Whimwood Winery just across the road

The cottage and the verandah overlook the Blackwood River and the beautiful bush surrounds — birds will come to feed every morning, and the groundskeepers alpacas may be roaming.

The cottage is located along a beautiful winding road that passes through wineries, farmland and bush reserve. It is far enough from town to feel a sense of seclusion, but close enough to everything you could possibly need for your stay.

There is so much to do in Nannup and surrounds - the area is brimming with artisan produce and goods, slow activities like bushwalking or for the more adventurous - mountain biking with world class trails on your doorstep, not to mention a winery just across the road.

You're surrounded by 6 acres of bushland which is shared by the other cabin guests. Please tread lightly.

Other things to note
Nannup is a quaint town surrounded by forests in the southwest of Western Australia. It is fastly becoming internationally recognised for its cycling and mountain bike riding trails. Guests should download the Experience Nannup app for an overview of the best that the town and the region has to offer.

Kookaburra Cottage does not have wifi. Mobile phone reception and personal hotspot is only available if you are with Telstra.

When you enter the cabin, you may need to turn the hot water on via the switch next to the front door.

The Balingup-Nannup road is one of the most magical drives in the southwest. Please take care as the road is frequented by wildlife, particularly at dusk. Drive slowly and appreciate the beauty.

The shower in the bathroom is a bath shower - guests need to access this by stepping into the bath.
