Period apartment town centre

LouiseRating, 5 stars6 days ago
Attractive and stylish period property with fresh neutral decor and plenty of space. High ceilings and original features. Location great, at start of one of the main roads out of town, less than 5 mins from train station. Town centre walkable in 10 - 15 mins through an established Victorian residential area around Lovers’ Walk. River / Whitesands area 15 - 20 mins walk. Easy parking for the property on adjacent side streets. Bus route too (Dumfries to Lockerbie). Property is on the ground floor of a 3 storey townhouse, with around 10 steps up to front door. Dumfries town centre and surroundings have lots to offer. Robert Burns’ House and Centre, Gracefield Art Gallery, River Nith and Dock Park, town Museum, small cinema, plus shops including M&S, a large old Dept Store (Barbour’s), and independent shops such as Flourish, for local gifts etc. Plenty of cafés, restaurants and pubs.

Belmont Cottage

Beautiful cottage & lovely hosts. We felt right at home & would definitely recommend staying here. Walking distance to local shops which was useful as we don't drive.

Mill View

MartinRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
The property was clean and comfortable, the heating system was responsive and efficient but could do with clearer instructions as its date and time was out of sync. Bathroom was well laid out, loved the lighted mirror above the sink. Decoration was good with great additional artwork to give a feeling of home, the provision of blinds and curtains made it very easy to maintain privacy and darkness through the night. Kitchen was small and therefore not easy for two people to be in it at the same time, the only real disappointment was the lack of basic supplies, (salt, pepper, tea, coffee) on arrival, and could maybe have done with one smaller kitchen knife than the fabulous larger 3. Blown away by the amount of plug sockets. Well warned in booking material about the parking situation, we managed it very well during our stay, ideal location for a stay in Dumfries and as a base for touring South West Scotland, would recommend the museum and camera obscura which is directly opposite.
