We had a fantastic stay at Natalie’s place. Natalie was very communicative and provided a very helpful guide before our arrival so we could find the house and get a feel for our surroundings. The place was beautiful and provided a nice quiet serene place to stay away after busy days exploring Kyoto. Natalie’s was an absolutely amazing host really going above and beyond to settle us in and provide us with help when we needed to find a dentist. She was very generous with her time and made our stay very enjoyable. We would definitely recommend and return if we find ourselves in Kyoto again!

Beautiful, traditional townhouse in a central area, but on a quiet street. Great hosts who were highly communicative and made sure we had everything we needed. All 4 of us loved our stay. Highly recommend to anyone exploring Kyoto!

A very comfortable stay for six people. The hostess was very warm and welcoming. We were only there overnight but the neighborhood is full of small restaurants, a grocery store, and an excellent French bakery. I would love to come back the next time I’m in Kyoto.

Wonderful opportunity to be close to Kyoto Station and yet private enough. Loved the traditional Japanese home while still modernized. Extremely close to corner market and 7/11. Some reviews complained about train station noise. We did not hear the trains but there was local road noise which did not bother us…we felt it was representative of daily Japanese home living. Our family enjoyed making use of this home though we did have to be a bit creative about meals at the “coffee” table in the sitting room. We neglected to notice that this would be the dining table…our error. For adults…no problem, but for our 16 month old grandson…it provided far too much freedom to stand and eat at the table since the chairs were too big for him to sit in and eat at the table.

We stayed @ Tomoko’s for a week as our base to explore Kyoto. Tomoko was an amazing host. Helpful generous & kind with her time, instructions & house provisions. The kitchen, bathroom & beds were excellent & it was nice to have space to move around. Bus & train close by. We were glad we chose this place & I thought the price was very reasonable. You won’t regret staying here & a justifies the great reviews.

Mayumi’s house is absolutely beautiful! It’s in a very quiet neighborhood with several great restaurants close by and is well connected by multiple buses. The house is very cozy and nice to come back to after busy days sightseeing. Would definitely book again!

Our family (4 adults and 1 toddler) loved staying at Hisashi because of its convenience: a 1-min walk to the convenience store and a 15-min walk to Kyoto Station; its ample space, and beautiful decor. The townhouse is located down a peaceful residential alleyway. The washer/dryer was a huge plus! I would wholeheartedly recommend Hisashi to anyone planning to explore Kyoto. Just note that there is a small additional accommodation tax of 200 yen per person per night.

A special stay at this beautiful ryokan. It had a tasteful finish and was clean and comfortable with a great amount of space for me and my partner. We felt like we had our own home in Kyoto and the surrounding neighbourhood was lovely. We particularly enjoyed being able to walk to the Kinkakuji (golden pavilion).

We had a wonderful time in Kyoto and at Mari’s place. It is conveniently located to neighborhood restaurants, convenient stores and the train. This place was perfect for our family of 4. Mari was quick to respond and made our stay welcoming. I highly recommend staying here.

The house offers everything you need. It is very clean, cosy and in a quiet place. The host Yukari has prepared everything you can think of. You feel very welcome We can only recommend this lovely place.

Aki’s guest house was beautiful. She also gave great instructions on how to use everything in the house as well as wonderful recommendations about what to see and how to get there!

The place was beautiful and let us have an experience staying like a local, in a peaceful neighbourhood which is within walking distance from the bustling Kyoto Station. It was a comfortable stay!

Peaceful stay in an old style Japanese house with modern amenities and bath with views of a small Japanese garden. Located in a residential neighborhood with quiet surroundings. Loved our stay and would highly recommend for anyone looking to get away from tourist places.

Very lovely accommodation, in a great location for enjoying Arashiyama. Unfortunately few restaurants in the area that are open for dinner time but there is a Lawson near by when in a pinch.

We had a great stay! The house was really well decorated and had a nice relaxed feel. Response to messages was amazingly quick and all questions answered with some great suggestions for local places to eat. It is worth noting that the house is just below a busy overpass so you can hear the cars from the bedroom but it didn't stop us sleeping well. Worth also noting that simple futon beds are provided so this might make it more challenging for some, but again for us this is something we enjoyed trying out whilst in Japan. Would recommend and stay again
