Mark and Diane were amazing! Place is super cozy/private. They were incredibly accommodating and friendly. We stayed the night for my girlfriend's birthday, and they surprised us with a birthday cake for her, they also left us breakfast for the morning! We booked this airbnb because it's closer to Bethlehem, which we wanted to go to for the Christmas markets. But, we 100% will be back to book with Mark and Diane again just for a weekend getaway, this place is that great.

We absolutely loved staying here! The house was so unique and fun and somehow still felt just like home! Much bigger than we imagined and the private outdoor area was a huge plus. Perfect spot to stay in Jim Thorpe. Close enough to be easily walkable to everything but still felt residential and peaceful even on a busy fall weekend. The recommendations they had for our stay were all spot on too. Would love to come back and visit again!

Our family of 4 had a wonderful holiday getaway. The home and area was exactly what we were looking for. We had the perfect amount of relaxation and activities to do during a usually hectic time of year. James's home was very clean and comfortable, with everything we needed to feel like we were at our own house. I wouldn't hesitate renting a second time, if we were ever planning to visit the area again.

Beth’s place was cozy and beautiful. The pictures are identical to what you see when you arrive. The cottage was perfect for our little family and we were able to relax for a few days away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The cottage was very clean and was equipped with mostly anything you would need during your stay. We would return.

This beautiful home was perfect for our family gathering of 8, including one young child and a baby. Plenty of room for relaxing, gathering for meals, and enjoying each others company. Even though the weather was chilly, we were still able to enjoy the outdoor space including the enormous hot tub and the spacious seating area including a gas fire pit. The beds were surprisingly comfortable (and I happen to be very particular about my mattress), and bathrooms were exceptionally clean and well appointed with lots of towels and some basic toiletries. We were a short 20 minute drive from the village of Jim Thorpe, which is a must-see for anyone visiting this area. We are already planning our stay here for next year!

It was a perfect cousin’s reunion with plenty of space to spread out and get comfy. Jessica was quick to help with any questions. Enjoyed the hot tub and the fireplace especially. The zoned heating ensured that every person’s preference was accommodated. Thanks, Jessica.

4.98 out of 5 average rating, 111 reviews3 bedroom cozy farm house with beautiful views
Such a beautiful place. Nestled within a gated property, it feels very private, but also secure knowing that the host is nearby in case anything goes wrong (it didnt!) The hosts also left a thorough house manual with a long list of local restaurants and things to do in the area. Decor and amenities have clearly been curated over years, and it truly feels like a home, not just a guest house. The stoneware dishes and mugs are so pretty, and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need - we cooked all of our meals there! The home really feels fully stocked. Multiple sets of dishes, PLENTY of towels, linens, and blankets everywhere, even the little things like a brand new sponge in the kitchen really shows that no detail has been left undone. Overall, a nice choice for a quiet getaway!

Cozy, quiet, and peaceful. It was a lovely space to spend a bit of time alone. Everything was clean and great to use. Went during the off season so the price was hard to beat and it was a lot quieter, which was a big bonus. a great find!

This place was exactly what we needed for our situation. If you want a nice quiet location. Close to the turnpike for easy access but far enough away for peace and quiet. Our hosts were very responsive. The place has everything you could possibly need just bring yourself and it’s also pet friendly. Very clean and cozy. The large windows give you access to watching for wild life. We could not be more grateful and blessed to be given the opportunity to stay in such a beautiful place. We look forward to staying there in the future and we think you should too!
Rental unit in Jim Thorpe
4.96 out of 5 average rating, 101 reviewsVintage Storefront Studio: Uniquely Charming Stay
Dee was a consummate host. She gave us plenty of suggestions and had a thorough guidebook/handbook. The studio is immaculate and well stocked with any needed items. It was easy to locate and get in, with off street parking close by. There is some road noise and noise from next door tenants. Dee does provide a white noise machine to help with this. The location is over a mile from the main attractions of Jim Thorpe, so walking is not really an option. However, this spot is a hidden gem. The least expensive and some of the best food is on this side of the river and walkable from the apartment. We will definitely consider staying again.

Your guide to Jim Thorpe
All About Jim Thorpe
Jim Thorpe is a picturesque town nestled in the foothills of the Pocono Mountains in northeastern Pennsylvania. The Lehigh River runs through its historic downtown, which is lined with a mix of Victorian and Gothic Revival buildings. You can follow the river from downtown to Lehigh Gorge State Park’s colorful mountains, which turn vibrant green in the summer and burnt orange in the fall before winter snow blankets the tree canopies in white. Whitewater rafting and hiking and biking trails bring visitors to the park for outdoor adventure. Abandoned railway lines are scattered throughout the region, but the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway is still intact, and you can ride an original vintage train as it wends its way through the gorge.
You’ll find some of the earliest historic buildings in downtown Jim Thorpe on Race Street, including St. Mark’s and St. John’s Episcopal Church, a National Historic Landmark, with its tall stained-glass windows and striking whitewashed altar. Further down Race Street are 16 symmetrical stone row houses constructed by a local millionaire for coal miners. This corner of Pennsylvania is an up-and-coming wine destination, and you can visit a few wineries in downtown Jim Thorpe to try the region’s own blends.
The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Jim Thorpe
There are four distinct seasons in Jim Thorpe, each offering something unique for visitors. Fall is cool and pleasant, and the Fall Foliage Festival takes place throughout October. Winters are cold and snowy, and skiers and snowboarders may find this the perfect base for exploring the nearby resorts. Jim Thorpe’s Olde Time Christmas happens every weekend of December, with tree-lighting carriage rides and live holiday music, and the Winterfest each February features ice sculptures and live performances.
As the weather starts to warm up in spring, the city hosts the annual Jim Thorpe Birthday Celebration, a weekend dedicated to the town’s namesake and former Olympian, where you can learn about the athlete’s Native American roots through cultural dances and music. Summers are muggy and warm, and this is the best time of year to take advantage of activities in the cold Lehigh River, like whitewater rafting and trout fishing.
Top things to do in Jim Thorpe
Stabin Museum
The Stabin Museum, a former 19th-century wire and cable factory converted into a contemporary studio, sits at the foot of Mount Pisgah in downtown Jim Thorpe. The artwork in the museum leans toward the quirky and fantastical, with surrealist-style paintings and mixed-media works. Check the schedule before you go to see whether the museum is hosting events such as live jazz shows and holiday gatherings.
Lehigh Gorge State Park
You can explore the 4,500-acre Lehigh Gorge State Park on foot or by bike on the Lehigh Gorge Trail. Along the trail, which is lined by river birches, you will pass through the depths of the rock-walled gorge that skirts the Lehigh River. Near the Rockport Access Area, keep an eye out for two waterfalls — Luke’s Falls and Buttermilk Falls — and you’ll eventually reach an abandoned railroad tunnel with a perfect cutout view of the lush mountains ahead.
Mauch Chunk Museum Cultural Center
Set in a former Victorian home, the Mauch Chunk Museum covers Jim Thorpe’s history from its beginnings as a coal mining and railway hub to the story of its later namesake. Relics from various periods in the town’s history are on display, along with cultural artifacts like 19th-century clothing and coal carriers the miners once used.
