Ryokan vacation rentals in Higashiyama Ward

This house is located in a fantastic location, only a 6 min walk from the nearest station. Shiho, the host, was very accommodating. She greeted us as we arrived and gave a house tour. She also asked how we were going and made sure everyone was okay, something that is rarely done for Airbnb hosts. Everything in the house was clean and organised, the beds and futons were comfortable, and overall we had a great time staying at this place.

We had a great stay! The location was good and had great bus connections. The communication was easy and very friendly! Can only recommend!

Amazing spot to stay near Gion. Yuka & Taka are very welcoming & responsive, and the accommodations themselves were great! Would stay here again.

Nice house in a quiet neighborhood. Location gives fantastic access to the city through the Green Line (Karasuma). Easy to access from Kyoto Station shinkansen. Less than ten minute walk to the Aeon Mall. All facilities in working order. The washing machine is very useful in extending the usefulness of your carried clothing.

Perfect place to stay, very clean, very warm and great location near the stations. The samurai and other Japanese decorations were epic too. Highly recommended

We had a wonderful stay at the Cozy Cottage. The house was very clean and spacious. For us, the best part was the location. It truly felt like we were locals living in the community where Cozy Cottage is located. All of the staff were also very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time, and the stay definitely made our time in Kyoto extra special. I would recommend this stay to anyone looking for a bit of a slower pace in Kyoto.

We had a fantastic stay at this place! We were a family of 4, and it accommodated us perfectly. The beds were comfortable and cozy. The location was ideal for us—close to many things, but in a peaceful part of it. The place is tastefully decorated. Having access to a washing machine with dryer was so helpful! And most of all, our host was so kind, helpful, and friendly! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

Katsuya's home is absolutely gorgeous. Every detail is so well considered. He has left a biography of the artists whose work is in the house, and a brief history of the renovation as well, which I found fascinating. Nothing is overlooked. A wonderful experience.

Malcolm and Matashi were outstanding hosts! They were incredibly helpful, always willing to assist us in planning and suggesting activities. Their Airbnb location is simply stunning—it's slightly outside the city center, but absolutely worth it for the beautiful scenery and the calming sound of the river nearby. One of our favorite parts of staying here was chatting with Malcolm and Matashi in the mornings; they are warm, engaging, and genuinely hospitable. Our conversations with them became a highlight of each day. You would be hard-pressed to find a better Airbnb in Kyoto, or anywhere else for that matter. I highly recommend booking their place!

Tokuji is a very friendly host with great information on the surrounding area. It was a beautiful place to stay, very authentic and peaceful. It was so nice that we did not want to leave. Would definitely recommend.

Nori was a great host. Very friendly and helpful as well as immaculate communication. His space is clean and quiet. Would recommend to anyone coming to visit Kyoto.

At this steal of a price we couldn't have got a better place so close to so many shrines and temples in Kyoto. The place is located very conveniently near Kiyomizu-dera. You can be anywhere by just walking for 5 minutes. Family mart and other shops are very close. The place was super clean and spacious unlike other small places that you get in Kyoto. This was our first time in a Japanese Ryokan we totally loved the experience. We loved it here and would surely visit it the second time whenever we are back in Kyoto.

Beautiful and unique space in Kyoto! We only stayed here one night but the private outdoor space and bath was a very unique and appreciated feature especially after a long day of roaming around the city

The courtyard is really beautiful!Although the soundproofing is not very good, the guests staying in the homestay are very civilized, and you can't hear any noise at night!If you haven't tried staying in a traditional Japanese house, Riyu is a great place

the house is beautiful, especially the family room is very worthwhile. the bathroom is common but this never gave problems. the breakfast was really exquisite, the staff one by one very sympathetic. ok would very much like to go back.

I highly recommend staying at the Golden Fish House, there are many small shops nearby, you can ride a bike to explore.There is a beautiful courtyard and a stylish porcelain washbasin.Breakfast was delicious.The staff are all very friendly.It's quiet at night and the quilt is comfortable.Had a lovely day.

Took the double room deluxe, I slept near the window it was one of the most memorable sleep, u can feel the history of the old japan.

The amenities exceeded my expectations. Everything I needed was thoughtfully provided, from high-quality toiletries and comfortable linens to a well-equipped kitchenette and relaxing communal spaces. The attention to detail made it feel less like a rental and more like a welcoming retreat. What made the experience truly exceptional, though, was the staff. They were incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely hospitable,always ready to help with local recommendations, directions, or even just a warm smile. Chieri was welcoming and the perfect host. Together with her mother Kauri-san and beautiful WabiSuke, they made us feel at home and gave us a little experience of living within a Japanese Community which is what we were seeking. From inviting us to a local Sushi restaurant to allowing us to share her Tea Ceremony class, Chieri has made our short stay truly memorable.
