Community policy

Promoting the safety of our community

Safety is a top priority at Airbnb. Safety incidents are rare, but when they do occur, we have policies and processes in place to support our community. This can include providing support to impacted users, cancelling upcoming or ongoing reservations, rebooking guests a new place to stay, and taking action against users who violate our policies, including removing their accounts. When safety incidents happen, we may also support law enforcement in criminal investigations.

Where legally permissible, we may also take proactive steps to identify individuals that are potentially involved in serious crimes or have certain past convictions or to screen reservations for signals that indicate a high risk of a disruptive gathering.

How to report a safety issue

In the unlikely event you experience a safety issue during your reservation, we’re here to help:

  • If there’s an emergency in progress, please contact local emergency services or law enforcement authorities for assistance. If you're unfamiliar with local emergency services phone numbers, you can use Airbnb to dial emergency services now.
  • Otherwise you can contact Airbnb through our dedicated 24-hour safety line.
  • If you don’t have an Airbnb account, but want to report something happening at an Airbnb listing in your community, you can contact our Neighborhood Support team. This is also the primary way to report a community disturbance.
