Combating hate, harassment, and discrimination

We want our hosts and guests to use our platform free from hate, harassment, and discrimination. You can read more about each of the below in our Nondiscrimination Policy.

What we don’t allow

• Refusal of Service or Differential Treatment: Airbnb users may not treat members of the Airbnb community differently or deny service to someone because of their protected characteristics or the perception that they have a protected characteristic. For example, Airbnb hosts may not do the following based on a user’s actual or perceived protected characteristics:
  • Decline or cancel a booking for homes, services, or experiences
  • Impose different terms, conditions, or rules (e.g., different limitations on access, fees, or other requirements related to the listing or booking process)
  • Indicate a preference for or against a specific type of guest
• Discriminatory Language: Airbnb users may not use language that calls for exclusion, segregation of, violence toward, demeans, insults, stereotypes, or seeks to convey a person’s inferiority because of a protected characteristic. This includes usage of slurs, negative associations, deadnaming or misgendering (which is intentionally referring to someone by their pre-transition name or pronoun), micro-aggressions (which are rooted in societal stereotypes based on protected characteristics), and hateful speech.
• Hateful and Discriminatory Symbols, Images, and Objects: Airbnb users may not display symbols, objects, logos, slogans, or images that are hateful, stereotype people because of a protected characteristic, or convey a discriminatory meaning. This includes images depicting discriminatory or racist symbols (including coded symbols), leaders of hate groups, or stereotypes.
