We loved this place! Its peaceful with good local walks, a pub just down the road. Tea and coffee and a loaf of bread were provided which was very welome. We'd brought our 2 dogs along, and Soraya had thoughfully left some dog treats out too. Just outside there was a hot tub, which was a real bonus, and a great way to relax after a day out walking.

Comfortable home in beautiful surroundings. Really responsive and friendly host. En-suite bathrooms to each bedroom and the beds were super comfy. Great parking and charger for electric car - lovely walks nearby along the river and the horse in the field behind had just given birth to a foal so our daughter was mesmerised. Oh I forgot the hot tub - that was great too!

Such a Lovely place too stay and great to relax, clean comfortable such a warm homely feeling from the minute you Get through the door, we would definitely come back

We really enjoyed our stay. Barneys cottage is a lovely house, with great character and very nicely presented. The property was very clean and tidy, combining the traditional and modern features very well. Kev was also a great host - helpful when required but not intrusive. We would happily stay here again.

We had a really nice stay. The cottage was lovely and well kept with great shower facilities and little touches including a welcome pack of local produce. Sharon came to clean the hot tub each morning with the filter being changed between guests, bbq area (with large disposable BBQ to use, birds singing in a sheltered garden. Bathroom and hot tub towels provided, washing machine and tumble dryer easy to use. The beds were comfy and blackout blinds in all rooms. Beautiful surroundings; able to walk 30 minutes to an ice cream farm with play area or drive 5 minutes to Lowther castle

In a word - wow! Lovely cottage, well equipped with modern tasteful decor and an excellent kitchen which is well presented with good quality equipment. The hot was amazing and the area is stunning. We had great weather and enjoyed sitting out on an evening next to the stream. The little details such as doggy provisions and the welcome bottle of fizz were appreciated. We will be back!!

We had the most wonderful time staying at Andrea’s place. We wanted to go somewhere we could really unwind and we could do exactly that here! It was super dog friendly and Rudy loved every second of his break. The place was perfect for what we needed.

Positives are that the hosts were great and the location is perfect for the town and beautiful walks. Great amenities in the house Negatives would be that the front rooms are noisy at night (unless windows are shut) and the house is dark throughout

Our stay was one of the best we have had. The house was really nice and cosy and the garden was great to relax in....just the birdsong and peace and quiet. The villiage is so picturesque and the the surrounding area is beautiful with lot's of great walks We would definitely return. Phil. Emma and Hamish

Could not fault The Hemmel at all. Absolutely beautiful. The accommodation, surroundings and view was exceptional. Ezra our labradoodle loved the enclosed garden. From the greeting off Kate, the beautiful homemade cake and flowers left for us, watching the red squirrel and the beautiful Northumbrian countryside and beaches, there was nothing we did not like about our stay. If we decide to come back to this neck of the woods, this would be our first pick. Five stars and beyond.

Delightful, homely cottage in peaceful surroundings. Clean and well equipped. Comfortable beds and pillows and big plus having an en-suite. Every detail has been well thought out. Great communication with owners and lovely touches of biscuits for the dog and fudge for the humans. Short walk to an excellent pub and lovely walks along the river. Excellent spot from which to discover the lakes. Highly recommended

Lovely property, in a lovely village. Well equipped - even a welcome basket for the dogs. Friendly locals with a few places to see. Plenty of places to walk with the dogs. Good food at the local cafe. Village also had several EV chargers.

We absolutely loved our Christmas at Seaglass Cottage. The hosts were great, answered any questions, gave us detailed instructions for check-in and even put up a Christmas tree and decorations for us. We were very lucky with the weather, enjoying walks along the beach right outside, we even found some seaglass (we felt like children!). The property was very clean, the bedding smelled so fresh, the kitchen had everything you might need, very clean bathroom and handy downstairs loo. Every evening we would sit in the cosy conservatory enjoying a glass of wine, watching the sun go down, people walking along the beachpath with their dogs and then into the lounge for a real log fire. It was perfect and we can't wait to return!

A wonderful cottage in a fabulous location. Fizz, fresh bread and homemade jam to greet us. Lovely warm and surprisingly large cottage with a gorgeous view of the ford. Great walks straight from the door with wildlife aplenty (sadly no red squirrels but our host did point us to a hotel where we managed to see them). All in all, a cracking place to stay.

Characterful cottage in a lovely village, very well stocked kitchen with good quality pans and everything you need. Perfect for the three of us.

An extremely quite peaceful location close to Hadrians Wall (100 meters)

The location, the house, the people in the village, the pub and food, the chocolate shop, the host....i could go on and on. What a gem the house and the village are. Absolutely felt at home the local people are very friendly. The pub was welcoming, dog friendly and the food was fantastic. It is on the Coast to coast route so lots of local walks both short and longer if you wanted them were apleanty. I could not recommend the location enough. We will be back x

Great property, very causy, just what we needed. Bathroom and kitchen stunning. Both hosts were very communicative, when we arrived we found basket with coffe/tea and some chocolate biscuits which was a nice touch. Thank you for your hospitality

Very relaxing stay. Peaceful location with excellent views over the surrounding hills and valleys. Great to watch the sheep with their lambs, and also rabbits, birds and bats from the comfort of the house. We really enjoyed being able to watch the sun sets from the dining table. Ross opened up the utility hut by the car park for us, so we could use our EVSE lead to charge our EV during the stay - obviously very useful for EV drivers!

Lodge was really well equipped with everything we needed. Swimming pool and gym on site were handy. Very quiet and peaceful. Host very helpful and responsive too. Thank you!

Lovely cottage ideally located on the edge of Windermere town, Walked to the lake and travelled by boat to Brockhole and returned on the bus. Good transport and restaurants. Thank you Mark - we really enjoyed our stay.

Great house and amazing host. The house is perfect for families but location for exploring lake district isn't great, the house is not in Penrith as described on the title, it is in a very small village where there is not even a local shop. Closest shop is at 15min drive and closet lake is at 20-25 minute drive.
