The space
Y Beudy (‘the cowshed’) is a spacious yet cosy barn conversion with its own private garden. It’s the perfect place ‘off the beaten track’ to enjoy a relaxing retreat.
Downstairs there is an open plan kitchen, dining table and sitting area with floor to ceiling windows and patio doors out into the private garden. The kitchen is well-equipped with all the usual appliances, including a dishwasher and washer-dryer.
Upstairs there’s a separate lounge with comfy sofas and smart TV, DVD player and sound bar. We also have a selection of books, DVDs and family board games available for you to enjoy during your stay.
The large master bedroom has a super-king bed and ensuite shower room. The second bedroom is set up as a twin.
The family bathroom has a bath with shower.
We can offer storage for bikes, kayaks or paddleboards, as well as a hose pipe for washing down kit after a day in the mountains or out on the water. There is also space to hang kit to dry.
Outside there’s a private and secluded south-facing garden on the banks of the Afon Ceidiog, with countryside views of the surrounding farmland and forestry. There’s a patio area for outdoor dining and a barbecue available to use.
Y Beudy is part of a large barn that was originally also a mill, with the old water wheel and shaft featuring in the garden.
Previous guests have enjoyed the tranquility and being surrounded by nature, as well as paddling in the river next to Y Beudy. The nesting swallows and house martins are welcome visitors each spring / summer, and from the garden buzzards and red kites can often be seen in the distance.
The dark skies of the Pennant valley offer fantastic stargazing opportunities and some guests have been lucky enough to have spectacular views of the northern lights.
Guest access
Y Beudy, including its peaceful south-facing garden, is entirely your own space to enjoy.
Other things to note
Although Llandrillo is not far from the key transport links including the A5, Y Beudy certainly feels secluded as it’s located towards the head of the Pennant valley, just under 3 miles from the village.
The final 200m to reach the property from the valley road is a bumpy farm track - please bear this in mind when booking (low profile sports cars are not recommended!).
Only mobiles on O2 and EE (and those using these networks e.g. Giff Gaff, Sky) will have signal at the property, and generally only outdoors. Signal improves considerably across networks if you take a hike up into the mountains!
However, WiFi is available throughout the property - so if you want to stay connected whilst away you’ll be able to make voice or video calls via wifi calling or apps such as FaceTime.
The property is not suitable for guests with accessibility requirements as there are steps both in and out of the property.
As the barn is next to a river, and there are open stairs in the property, children will require supervision at all times.
