Mountain and valley views

Soak up the views during your stay.
Exclusive Family Hideaway situated on the banks of a pristine river, majestic cliffs and rolling hills. This is a perfect South African holiday, with river swimming, fishing, bird watching and wildlife, fantastic hiking and awesome mountain biking.

Relax in the hot tub, braai or bake pizza, star gaze in the nights - a remarkable holiday awaits!

Our estate is completely private, yet fully serviced and secure, situated on a wildlife reserve that also has a friendly restaurant, pub and pool.

The space
Our home in the Komati Gorge Lodge & Wildlife Reserve boasts an untouched expanse of more than 2500 hectares of thorn bushveld and highveld grassland. Outdoor lovers may choose to hike along the river, along mountaintops, past trout dams and to little waterfalls.

Horse riding, fishing, game drives and river tubing can be arranged directly with the Lodge. River tubing is best when there is high rainfall.

The house has 4 north-facing bedrooms and 4 bathrooms (2 bedrooms are en-suite). It is best suited to a maximum of 10 people. (There are 2 x king beds in the en-suite rooms, one room with 2 x singles and one room with four high quality bunk that are best for children but also comfortable for adults.)

And swimming in the river right by the house, including in the natural pools, will take your holiday to the next level of pleasure.

Guest access
This home is overlooking the Komati River about 2.5 hours' drive from Gauteng (max 3 hours from Sandton/Johannesburg). Approx 8km drive is on a good condition dirt road.

There is no wifi at the house, however you can connect to the guest wifi at the Lodge which is about a ten minute drive from the house.

There is limited cellphone signal on the estate. We use this break from technology as a wonderful opportunity to "re-connect".

Other things to note
In addition to the home, there is a fully serviced Restaurant and Pub as well as a wide variety of activities available on the same property.

There are between 20 to 30 kilometers of mountain biking trails on the reserve.

A hot tub with magnificent views of the river, boma/braai, clay pizza oven and a large indoor fireplace are available - wood is available to order from the Lodge.

All guests must provide full name and a government-issued photo ID upon booking or check-in.
