About Shepton House:
Shepton House was built in 1904 by Percival and Edith Hammon, whose son went on to create Scenic World, one of the Blue Mountains major tourist attractions. It was named 'Shepton' after Edith's birthplace in England. Rumour has it that the sandstone used to build it came from the nearby Carrington Hotel.

Neighborhood highlights

Shepton House is the perfect base for exploring Katoomba and the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains.

Whether you're into nature, hiking, food, drink, live music, art, wineries, or just relaxing, there is so much to enjoy in Katoomba and the wider Blue Mountains!

Katoomba is increasingly becoming a foodie destination with some great restaurants, bars, bakeries and coffee spots. Some of our favourites are Tempus, Tempus Up Early (for weekday breakfast and lunch), Elysian Bar (great views, cocktails and food), Fidelity Coffee, Cassiopeia Coffee, Blue Mountains Chocolate Company and the award winning Black Cockatoo bakery. Mr Tom's pizza truck is also a great choice if you want pizza with a view (his pizza truck is at various locations, including Katoomba Falls on some Friday nights).

If you have time, day trips to Leura, Jenolan Caves, Lithgow's Zigzag Railway and glow worm tunnel, the Megalong Valley (for it's wineries, Lot 101 Restaurant and the Megalong Valley tea rooms), and Blackheath are well worth it. Some great restaurants in Blackheath include Ates and Frankie & Mo's Wine Bar. Logan Brae apple orchard is also worth a visit in apple season.

The Blue Mountains is also home to many beautiful public gardens, including Everglades House and Gardens (Leura), Campbell Rhododendron Garden (Blackheath), Mount Wilson Gardens (Mount Wilson) and Blue Mountains Botanical Gardens (Mount Tomah).
