This secluded and quiet home consists of a brick bungalow and a nearby wooden stilt house. They are nestled within a large natural property with tall trees, bamboo, and ponds. Best suited for a single person or a couple for a long-term stay. Only 15 km to reach the city of Chiang Mai; you may rent a scooter or use Grab or Bolt, or even public transport from the street adjacent to the property.
The space
Features of Dillenia Home (consisting of Dillenia Bungalow and Chom Doi Pavilion):
The bungalow comprises a bedroom, an en-suite bathroom, a living and dining room, and a kitchen.
• Bedroom: with a wall-mounted Mitsubishi split-type air-conditioner, plus a ceiling fan).
• En-suite bathroom: with hot shower (electric), hand wash basin, and western-type toilet; from this room you can access the attic.
• Living and dining room: with a ceiling fan, and upon request, with a cooling fan.
• Kitchen: with a double hotplate or single induction hob, microwave, hot water kettle, 2-door refrigerator (inverter fridge/freezer combination) 56 × 140 × 59 cm (22 × 55 × 23 in), and sink. One of the kitchen windows has a service flap to serve al fresco dining on the terrace or under the wooden stilt house.
The pavilion comprises upstairs one room (protected by mosquito screens) and an open-spaced roofed veranda, and downstairs a bathroom (protected by mosquito screens) and an open-spaced seating area.
• Room: equipped with a laptop-friendly workspace, but cam be changed to a temporary bedroom, featuring an air-con, wall fan, hand-wash basin, and urinal.
• Veranda (around the bedroom): can be used as a living area, with a kitchenette, refrigerator 47 × 50 × 50 cm (19 × 20 × 20 in).
• Bathroom: with hand-wash basin, hot shower (electric), western-type toilet, and automatic washing machine (top loader).
• Seating area: with a wall fan; this area can be used for outdoor dining.
The private garden area extends between the bungalow and the pavilion, and to the bank of the large pond in the south. It has sunny and shady recreation areas and a shady sitting area under the pavilion. Lovely views are provided over the large natural pond and the community garden from the terrace, deck, and patios, as well as from the windows of the living room and bedroom of the bungalow and the veranda of the pavilion.
Community garden: 7,000 sqm large, with tall trees and bamboo, ponds, and pathways.
Long-term stays:
Dillenia Home can initially be booked for one month (28 days), but we are happy to accommodate longer stays. Extensions are always possible, even if the booking calendar indicates otherwise! Please inquire and let us know your wishes for an extended stay.
Other things to note
If you rent a motorbike/scooter (or bicycle) in Chiang Mai (most providers are located in the city center near Tha Phae Gate + 400 m), you will have a great range of options for visiting shops, restaurants, and sightseeing places. You will need an international driver's license. Using your mobile phone for navigation, e.g., with Google Maps, is another advantage you shouldn't miss.
Grocery shops and restaurants:
We are located between two rural villages, each of which has one small grocery store 400 meters away. One village has a tiny restaurant with one or a few Thai dishes, 800 meters away, or an 11-minute walk.
There are more shops, several Thai restaurants, and a small market in a nearby village, 2-2.2 km away. There are many more restaurants and shops within 5 to 7 km.
Delivery services:
The house has a fully equipped kitchen, so you can prepare your own meals. Several supermarkets offer grocery delivery services, and several restaurants offer ready-made meal delivery services via Grab.
