Ryokan vacation rentals in Gifu

Octavia was very customer focussed & attentive. Before arriving he sent clear directions how to reach his home, on the edge of the main tourist area. His home was well displayed with a welcome sign out the front. It is is in a good neighbourhood and it was quiet. His home was clean and I had the front bedroom that was ‘family sized’. The bathroom was shared with another guest but a booking system enabled easy sharing of the bathroom space. Octavia served a simple breakfast and filtered coffee/teas. There are stairs to navigate to the bedrooms in this traditional Ryokan house. Octavia speaks English competently and was helpful in giving an orientation to his home and answering questions about the area. It was a short walk to the markets and old town and about 12mins to the bus terminal. When leaving Octavia said he was going into town and offered to drive me to the train terminal. I appreciate his efforts and thank Octavia for adding to my pleasant time in Takayama.

Nice apartment in a traditional Japanese house above the public baths (takanoyu). Outdated charm and spartan comfort (futons, toilet on the landing and shower on the ground floor). Host speaks English and gives lots of helpful tips. Warm welcome

Miwa's place is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of Japan's megacities. The house and neighborhood genuinely make you slow down and relax as you enjoy the slower pace of the countryside. Miwa and her mother were responsive and incredibly helpful. They prepared a book for you detailing nearby recommendations on things to do and places to eat. The house is comfortable and the amenities are generous. I highly recommend staying here if you would like to slow down a little bit and relax. Miwa's house is also conveniently located near some of the post towns of the Nakasendo trail like Magomejuku and Tsumagojuku.

It was a pleasant time at the Otera Stay! We had our own complete bathroom, nice room with amazing view, and super warm while it was -4 outside. Totally worth it and very happy with the kindness of people there.

Cannot recommend Kohei's place highly enough. What a beautiful piece of history. It smells amazing, too, from all the natural wood. Kohei had great local suggestions: I went to the Teppanyaki he shared for two dinners in a row and had amazing meals and conversations with the owners. Location is the perfect mix of serenity, privacy, and walkability. Hida is a lovely city, and I would stay at this house again next time I'm in the area,

Beautiful Ryokan. Shared living room and kitchen. Private onsen by reservation and very easy to book. Delicious breakfast food. Very kind staff.

Guesthouse Yanagiya and the surrounding village is even more charming than the photos can express. Yukie is a very caring host, and she has created a space that invites its guests to interact in a comfortable setting. Rooms are simple, yet clean. The location is great for a relaxing getaway, and is about 1-1.5 hours ride via train to the Magome/Tsumago Nakasendo trail. While that trail is indeed worth the effort to travel to, Iwamura and the castle ruins are very beautiful, quaint, and way less busy than the Nakasendo trail. In the future, I would love to return!

This modern Ryokan was a perfect place to stay in Nakatsugawa. Very convenient being 2 mins walk from the train station, and the start of the nakesando trail. The ryokan is spotlessly clean and the staff very helpful and friendly. The tatami bedrooms are simple and comfortable. The social are in the lobby is a great place to chat, have a drink, have breakfast and plan your nakesando walk.

Great place with plenty of space in traditional house. The equipment is very modern and comfortable.

An absolute must if you are anywhere near Kyoto. Completely worth the trip to come and stay in this fantastic community and the house is just a piece out of a Studio Ghibli dream. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We hope to be back in the future.
