Secluded neighborhood with house directly on the Shenandoah river. Private quarters with amazing views from your own deck and sun room. Long dirt road to access property. Cattle likely grazing throughout the road in.
“This place really exceeded my expectations. The space is secluded but within 10 minutes of anything you’d want or need. It’s filled with lots of nice touches-dog treats, extra paper plates/napkins, board games, charging cables, toiletries, etc. You can tell that there was a lot of thought put into it to make sure guests are comfortable. We traveled with our two dogs, and the fenced in yard was great. They had a blast playing with Justin’s dog. The neighborhood is very dog friendly-my one dog got loose and ran into a neighbors yard to say hi and they were really sweet about it. (My dog doesn’t understand personal space...) We did not travel with children, but we noticed that the space is very kid friendly. There’s a cute little easel with chalk, stuffed animals and some other kid-friendly things inside. We loved grilling by the water and just relaxing outside. If the weather isn’t good, you still have a nice view of the river from inside. Justin and his family are incredibly sweet and welcoming. He was available for anything we needed and was nice to chat with when we were outside with the dogs. We can’t wait to return to this hidden gem.”
4WD/AWD REQUIRED!! Secluded and cozy cabin overlooking the Shenandoah River and bordering the George Washington National Forest. The recently renovated cabin features a wood fireplace, wrap around deck, screened in porch, outdoor fire pit, and hot tub. The cabin is a hiker’s dream with a private access trail leading to the Massanutten Circuit Trail. Guests can also enjoy access to the Shenandoah River. **Please Note: Driveway is Steep -- AWD/4WD REQUIRED at all times.”
“An amazing view from deck, almost every room inside, firepit and from the hot tub. Tons of style and felt really tastefully done. Perfect for a family of four. Very clean (which was reassuring during this covid 19 pandemic) additional bleach/cleaning supplies on site as well. No laundry on site, however, so take all the clothes you might need if you’re going for awhile! And the drive is, as they say in the ad, steep, so four wheel is a must. Totally worth it as it’s an amazing price for such an amazing little place. Hot tub views were best I’ve ever seen. We will absolutely be back. Don’t hesitate to book this dream mountainside cabin.”
Stepping Stone Cabin is on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River, five minutes from our family business, Shenandoah River Outfitters. Our cabin comes with a canoe for you to use during your stay as well as a couple of tubes. You can sit on the couch in the living room and watch the ducks float down the river, walk out your door and throw a fishing line into the river or relax in the screened-in porch in the evening and enjoy the hot tub. It is a relaxing place to be to rest and to unwind.
“This is the perfect cabin for a weekend (or week, month) getaway! Check-in was easy with a lock box, and for check-out we just had to straighten up and drop off the trash at a local business (right down the street). The kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, cutting boards, bowls, bakeware, cutlery, and utensils. There were plenty of plates and cups, and there was also: paper towels, oven, microwave, coffee maker, and fridge. The hot tub and grill outside were lovely and easy to use. There is a large fire pit by the river with a picnic table and chairs. Under the house you will find two kayaks and a canoe, and in the shed there are life jackets and tubes. There is a rope by the river to tie off the tubes. The master bed was very comfy, and the various AC units in the house worked perfectly. We were able to connect the TV to Netflix and the shower had good pressure. Angela took lots of steps to make sure the house was clean in light of the current pandemic, including cleaning all the bedding and changing the hot tub water. We brought our own sheets and towels, which really wasn't an inconvenience at all. Angela answered all our questions quickly, and we had such an amazing time. You can't beat the view, being just a few feet from the water, and having everything you need in one place. It was also really nice having most of the property in the shade; it really helped keep the temperature down and it actually nice to sit outside during the summer!”
