Rebuilding tourism together

Working with communities to support conscious travel

Conscious travel is on the rise

An Airbnb-commissioned survey with Economist Impact has found that travellers in the Asia-Pacific are more consciously thinking about how they can positively impact the local communities they’re visiting.

4,500+

survey respondents across nine countries

>60%

are conscious that communities are in need of economic recovery

64%

say they want to meaningfully connect with local communities and culture next time they travel

66%

say it’s important to them that their travel habits are creating a positive impact for locals

As demonstrated by our survey findings, we’re seeing a trend where people are attempting to make their travel decisions more sustainable — economically, culturally and environmentally — and hoping to have a more positive impact by benefiting local communities."
