At just a stones throw away from the world renowned Old Stamp House restaurant, Bakestones is the ideal base for you to explore the culinary delights of the Village. If walking and sightseeing is at the top of your to-do list, there is also an abundance of wonderful Lakeland walks and trails right from your doorstep, including Loughrigg fell, Wansfell Pike and the Stockghyll Force waterfalls. With a secure garage Bakestones is one of the few holiday cottages in the centre of the village to boast on site parking. Built in the 17th century Bakestones has been in a fixture in the village of Ambleside for over 300 years and was once the premises of the oldest grocers shop in England. As you can imagine Bakestones has an abundance of retained original features including original stone walls, oak beams and even the decoratively restored bakers’ oven that warmly welcomes you into the entrance hall.
