Family-friendly vacation rentals in Cape Breton Island

Fantastic place for our annual girls get away! 4 of us girls each had our own place to sleep. Amazing kitchen with everything you need. I loved the open concept with breathtaking views!! I could even keep an eye on my 70 year old Mom who was fishing off the dock while I was busy in the kitchen lol We will definitely be going back ♥️

This place is absolutely stunning!! The views of the lake are unreal , like something out of a magazine. The hottub/sauna overlooking the lake and the short , well lit walking trails to get there are like your in a fairy tale. The host is super accomidating. I cannot wait to come back! We had an amazing stay! Would recommend 10/10 👌

Location, location, location. Such a beautiful, quiet spot on Bras D’or, we spent a lot of time just looking out over the water (it was cold out there, mind you). The cottage is charming and attractively furnished, and the kitchen is well equipped for cooking. Storage space is minimal, but lots of hangers for clothing. The washer and dryer were a real asset. We enjoyed our stay.

This was a great place to stay in the lovely town of Baddeck! The house is older with lots of character and had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. It was easy walking distance to both groceries and a restaurant. It was a good central location for Sydney, the Fortress of Louisbourg, and the Cabot trail. Our host was very responsive and helpful.

We enjoyed our rural stay at Scotty’s. The house was comfortable and well equipped and a peaceful landscape. Close to Mabou and walking trails.

This place is amazing! The cabin was super clean, the self-check in went smoothly and there is even a sauna!

We had a wonderful time in Cheticamp. John was helpful for suggestions about hiking and restaurants. I would highly recommend his beautiful place.

We are very happy with our seven night stay there. The kitchen was well equipped, so we were able to prepare almost all of our meals. Eileen greeted us with homemade biscuits and some thoughtful fridge provisions sufficient to get our next morning off to a cozy start. She made an effort to help us access Wi-Fi in the town of Inverness, but it turned out the cottage had good cell reception so we could use phones as hotspots to get a little work done such that we could really vacation in confidence. We were delighted to see a pair of bald eagles on the shore of the property, well as loons and kingfishers and many other birds. Our stay was in mid September, and the weather was delicious, sunny, with a crisp bite to the air on our last couple of days. Congratulations to Eileen on creating a charming getaway, I wish we had stayed three or four more days.

We stayed a couple nights mid November, the place is very private and quiet. You can hear the waves of the ocean. Unfortunately it was very rainy and foggy while we were there. The drive was difficult up to the park to and the fog made sightseeing difficult. We spent the days relaxing inside :)

Lovely home, privately situated next to the sea. The views were spectacular. The home was very neat and clean and very well maintained. It wasn't too far from the town of Baddeck where we got provisions and visited very good restaurants. We loved our stay at this home. Richard did a good job as our host. Thank you!

This home was everything I could have asked for. It was cozy, private and the views were outstanding. Mabou is a beautiful area. Perfect place to rest and slow down from a busy life. Dave was very very responsive and helpful with suggestions. I would highly recommend staying here. Best bnb experience we have had.

Beautiful sunrises over the water. Loved being right on the Cabot Trail!

A lovely, modern home with a perfect lake view and access to the water! We really enjoyed the design of the home, with tons of windows (but don't stay here if the thought of things watching you from the woods freaks you out! But nothing is watching you...). The living/kitchen area is open and airy, with sliding patio doors that open toward the lake and a deck. Nice wood-burning fireplace. Very functional kitchen, easy to cook in. Well-separated bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms would make this great for a family (or just 2 people, as we were). Infloor heating is nice. Kayaks and other outdoor things available. No TV, but we were OK with that (and used our computer and the fast internet connection when we wanted to watch something). We had not been to Cape Breton before and liked this location - 10 minutes to Baddeck and about 1.5 hrs. to the south end of Cape Breton Highlands National Park (either west or east coast). Lots of hiking near-by, appreciated the host's ideas on that.

We enjoyed our stay in Port Hood. Wish we had more time there to explore Cape Breton. Very easy to gaze out at the water and lose track of time.

This was the first time we stayed with Glenna. She was very welcoming; the space was clean, tidy, and thoughfully decorated. She is a great communicator; responded quickly to our messages. Her place has very close access to Cape Breton Highlands Park and close access to restaurants in Cheticamp by car. Also nearby is the beautiful drive south along the Ceilidh Trail to Inverness where there are sandy beaches to walk and enjoy. This lovely vacation and our stay with you will never be forgotten. A very nice view. More impressive in real life than the photos. Our weekend went very well. I recommend it!
