Spacious villa with gorgeous ocean view in Maio

Beautiful villa on top of the cliffs overlooking the ocean. The location is only a few steps away from a fantastic beach that is 5+km long and often entirely empty. It's a 10 minute walk into town with shops and very good restaurants. The villa itself is spacious and well appointed. It has TWO large terraces both overlooking the ocean. The lower one is great for daytime lounging and the upper one has even better views and is a great sunset spot. We had some of the best starry sky watching of all of our travels there. The host was very accommodating and always responsive. Our local host, Lavilson, is a wonderful human being. He is a true local: born and raised on the island and a true ambassador for Maio. He was our guide for a day long island tour. We got to see Maio from an insider's point of view places and met wonderful people including his parents who were sweet and welcoming. We highly recommend him. Overall we had a fantastic experience and can't wait to do it again.

Christoph and Mona, were outstanding hosts, and are with you every step of the way. The Beach location offers near perfect untouched nature, the ocean is rich with aquatic life, making the fishing truly amazing. The waves didn't calm during our stay so swimming wasn't possible, however it made the scenery even more spectacular. After spending time with Christoph I began to realise quickly how passionate and genuine he is about their chosen way of life, he is an asset to Maio and held in high regard. They ask nothing in return for all the help received during the stay, and truly enjoy the social company of good honest people, guests appear welcome to be part of their everyday life. Their dogs and cats are well behaved, we looked forward to seeing Lucy +1 each morning guests should appreciate you are living off grid and must be conscious of power used. your own wifi dongle would be recommended if it's essential you. Thank you both so much, and I look forward to meeting you again.

Tropikal House Facing Ocean

The house is just like in the photographs, a wooden construction in which nothing has been left to chance and which is filled with small details and revealing details of the love and affection with which it was built and appreciated. Like any wooden house, it is already showing small points in need of maintenance, but nothing serious. The view from the house on the outer porch is stunning and it's precisely what we loved the most. To stay outside at night, observing the immensity of the starry sky and in silence, only with the sound of the sea, was equally pleasant. The perfect home to welcome us with our family. We leave with great desire to return for more days. Small appliances missing can improve the experience (kettle or coffee maker). On the contiguous terrain of the house a new dwelling is being built, which removes privacy from the porch. Workers are respectful and do not start making noise too early.

Bernard and Valerie were very hopitable, kind and friendly with amazing tips about what to do in the island. When Bernard learned we liked birds, he went out of his way to take us around good spots for watching them. We were lucky to be there for Christmas and were invited to a great party in the village with their friends. When our flight was delayed they were helpful and flexible for us to find solutions. The house is quiet, comfortable and well equipped, a pleasure to cook in. Highlighted for us were the sunset views from the rooftop, riding the electric bikes to a deserted beach, really sweet dogs, resting by the pool and closeness Bernard and Valerie have to their neighbors in the village.

Patricia and her husband offer a magnificent house with the most beautiful view! The apartment offered everything we needed - a pool, quiet rooms, a well equipped kitchen and an outdoor BBQ and all support we could think of of Patricia and her staff. All in all: we had a wonderful stay in Maio, it is really an island to calm down, enjoy nature, sun and the sea. Thanks a lot!

Fabulous. Very nice house, Beautiful view, the pool is splendid and the private beach at the foot of the house is absolutely wonderful - 10 minutes walk from the village beach - very friendly with its small bars - and 15 minutes from the sublime wild beach of Preta - the welcome is very well managed - The team helped us take the ferry tickets - an ideal place to rest in the sweetness of the island of Maio.

Wonderful stay in a fabulous location! Stella Maris's residence is very well designed and very pretty, the infinity pool adds charm to the whole and is really a plus when the sea is too wild to swim. Superb decor that makes the villa very cozy, and sea view from all sides, the terrace is conducive to relaxation. Villa do Maio is a charming fishing village, with a special atmosphere, still very far from mass tourism, time stands still and we would have stayed there much longer!

We had a lovely stay at Rita's. The accommodation is very nice close to the center, swimming pool, private terrace for a beautiful sunset. Very functional accommodation with all amenities. Romario was very helpful with us for scooter rental, recommendations on the island. I would recommend it without hesitating

We had the pleasure of staying at Isolonda's home, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. The house is spotless, extremely comfortable, and equipped with everything we could possibly need. The location is excellent, making it convenient for exploring the area. What truly made our stay special was Isolonda herself. She is an amazing host who genuinely cares about her guests. Her warm hospitality and attention to detail made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Amazing! If you don’t stay here, you are missing out on a fantastic experience. Chris and Mona are incredible. such kind, generous and welcoming people. The meals they served us were so fresh and tasty, there are also lots of fun activities like snorkelling and fishing available here. We had a lovely time and will definitely be back again! Thank you Chris and Mona for everything.
