A rustic artist/owner built home in a picturesque setting overlooking beautiful Lake Ainslie. The house is bursting with character, and has evolved through numerous expansions and renovations over its storied 30-year history. The airy open-format main floor features a fully equipped kitchen with gas stove and full-size refrigerator. The main floor common area surrounds a handmade spiral staircase made from trees cut from the yard. A wood burning stove separates the kitchen from the central living space. A step through a curtain-door off the main area reveals a bright room with a futon couch, and a TV with an extensive VHS library. There is also an old piano, and guitar which are at your disposal, albeit a little out of tune. Attached to this room is a bathroom with unique homemade shower-stall featuring a hola-hoop. Through the bathroom, and also attached byway of a curtain to the main area, is a sunny dining room. The second floor houses two upstairs bedrooms and a bathroom with a large claw-foot tub. The main bedroom, which offers a queen sized bed (real bed) is connected by a window and archway to a study. The other bedroom has a double bed (futon mattress). If you investigate in the lower-are of this room you will find lots of games, books, and toys to entertain younger guests. If additional beds are required the futon couch in the downstairs TV room is also available. A large grassed yard is perfectly suited for games of badminton or croque. There is also a large studio on the property, where I reside and will be readily available to answer any questions you may have. 5 minute walk to the lake. 20 minute drive to the ocean at the town of Inverness 20 minute drive to the Bras d’Or Lake, a massive inland sea. 1.5 hour drive to the famous Cabot trail, one of the most scenic drives in North America. Enjoy the solitude of your escape with vintage dial-up speed internet and intermittent cell-phone coverage. As a rural cottage we aim to conserve water reduce our waste.
“This place is pure awesomeness. Unique decoration, a very scenic location, wooden stove, and tape and VHS players make the stay very unique and enjoyable. It's also well-equipped with everything one might need for the trip. And Ken is a very welcoming host. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone going on a Cabot trail adventure.”
Located on a private lot 80 feet from the beautiful Bras d'or lakes. Enjoy swimming, relaxing, barbecues and bon fries under the stars. A 10 minute drive from Whycocomagh and 15 minute drive to the Village of Baddeck.
“We had such a terrific time at Suzanne’s place! The camper was spacious and clean, the location was private and tranquil. We were able to catch trout from the shore, the kids played in the sand on the beach and we tested out the paddle boat in the lake! Suzanne is the definition of a ‘super host’ who goes the extra mile! She was very friendly and responsive to any questions, she also delivered us the best halibut supper I’ve ever had!! We hope to be back soon 😊”

“Awesome stay. Great location. Beautiful lake. Very clean and new cottage, everything you need and good access to Cabot Trail. Loved all the decks and the easy access to the lake with our paddle board. Lisa was always very responsive but also very respectful of our privacy!”
