Beautiful stay, the cottage was incredibly clean and well presented, the bathroom was gorgeous, and the hot tub was excellent. Fab location and great little walk down to the river at the back. 10/10

Julia was a brilliant host from booking until check out! The cottage was absolutely stunning and so was the surrounding areas. Julia was very friendly and helpful, we went as a group of work friends and was being a little too loud without realising, Julia was understanding and just politely asked if we could quieten a little outside due to neighbours, to which we apologised and enjoyed our night. I would definitely return in the future, hopefully with the family for a longer stay. Thank you so much Julia!!!!!

Fab place to stay for outdoor adventures.

We’ve had the most wonderful time staying here. The Loft is spotless, beautifully decorated and has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. The views from the hot tub are breathtaking , it’s genuinely like stepping into a postcard! The perfect location for exploring The Dales. Claire and Neil are very welcoming and thoughtful, providing great recommendations. We’d thoroughly recommend staying here and would not hesitate to book again! Thank you for having us x

We really enjoyed our stay. Barneys cottage is a lovely house, with great character and very nicely presented. The property was very clean and tidy, combining the traditional and modern features very well. Kev was also a great host - helpful when required but not intrusive. We would happily stay here again.

We had such a wonderful stay, a very beautiful house in a picturesque setting. The hot tub and sauna were a real treat and worth booking! Mark and Ruth were such lovely hosts with great communication and lots of thoughtful touches. We would highly recommend the house and location for both couples and families and look forward to staying again.

We had a really nice stay. The cottage was lovely and well kept with great shower facilities and little touches including a welcome pack of local produce. Sharon came to clean the hot tub each morning with the filter being changed between guests, bbq area (with large disposable BBQ to use, birds singing in a sheltered garden. Bathroom and hot tub towels provided, washing machine and tumble dryer easy to use. The beds were comfy and blackout blinds in all rooms. Beautiful surroundings; able to walk 30 minutes to an ice cream farm with play area or drive 5 minutes to Lowther castle

Positives are that the hosts were great and the location is perfect for the town and beautiful walks. Great amenities in the house Negatives would be that the front rooms are noisy at night (unless windows are shut) and the house is dark throughout

Our stay was one of the best we have had. The house was really nice and cosy and the garden was great to relax in....just the birdsong and peace and quiet. The villiage is so picturesque and the the surrounding area is beautiful with lot's of great walks We would definitely return. Phil. Emma and Hamish

Could not fault The Hemmel at all. Absolutely beautiful. The accommodation, surroundings and view was exceptional. Ezra our labradoodle loved the enclosed garden. From the greeting off Kate, the beautiful homemade cake and flowers left for us, watching the red squirrel and the beautiful Northumbrian countryside and beaches, there was nothing we did not like about our stay. If we decide to come back to this neck of the woods, this would be our first pick. Five stars and beyond.

Delightful, homely cottage in peaceful surroundings. Clean and well equipped. Comfortable beds and pillows and big plus having an en-suite. Every detail has been well thought out. Great communication with owners and lovely touches of biscuits for the dog and fudge for the humans. Short walk to an excellent pub and lovely walks along the river. Excellent spot from which to discover the lakes. Highly recommended

Lovely property, in a lovely village. Well equipped - even a welcome basket for the dogs. Friendly locals with a few places to see. Plenty of places to walk with the dogs. Good food at the local cafe. Village also had several EV chargers.

What can I say... Absolutely fantastic place. You couldn't ask for anything more. Really peaceful location with fantastic views of the hills etc. We had a strange issue but this was sorted out very swiftly by Malcolm 👍 We will definitely be looking to book again and have another peaceful time just watching the world go by. Lovely accommodation. Perfect base to explore the area. Close to the lake and Coniston which is walkable from the property so you can easily get to the lovely pubs, shops and cafes. Ruskin Museum is worth a visit to see Bluebird and the Bluebird cafe is a must. We kayaked the whole lake on the Saturday (covered about 12.5 miles) Parking and put in point right next to the lake, which is close to the property. We travelled to Wast Water on the Sunday to kayak. This was about an hours drive from Coniston and well worth the visit. All in all a fabulous weekend and the weather was warm and sunny. We loved Helen and her place so much. Truly can’t wait to go back, I really wish we stayed longer and hopefully next time we will. The place is perfect, it’s very spacious for 3. We loved the kitchen and the fireplace in the living room. We also loved the garden and walking down the street there is a beautiful foot path to take as well if you follow the signs. Helen was so sweet and fun to talk to as well as Josh her terrier! We hope to come back next year and spend more time here.

I have just returned home after a five day stay at Fell Cottage with my family. It was exactly as described and much more than just a cottage. It was so well equipped. Everything was to such a high standard too. We had a lot of rain so spent more time inside than originally planned, but felt so comfortable. I would recommend Fell Cottage to anyone looking for a roomier place as it has four bedrooms and three bathrooms.

We had a fantastic last minute weekend break at Groom's Cottage. Catherine met us when we arrived to facilitate check in. She was friendly and knowledgeable about the local area and gave recommendations for places to visit. the cottage was very comfortable and as described. the cottage felt secluded but was close to transport links for exploring the area. Breakfast items were in the kitchen on arrival which was a nice welcome touch. Would happily visit again.

We had the most enjoyable experience staying at Sara’s beautiful & cosy cottage. It was in the perfect location with easy walking distance into Town and only a short drive to Windermere & Ambleside. Peaceful cottage in a central location. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was provided by the host and Sara was available to answer our questions promptly. We would definitely stay again. Thank you for a lovely stay and for the biscuits and mint chocs too. My daughter loved it too x

A beautiful home in a beautiful part of the world, we easily around The Lake District from our base. Spotlessly clean and so comfortable and welcoming. We didn’t want to leave and hope to return.

The location, the house, the people in the village, the pub and food, the chocolate shop, the host....i could go on and on. What a gem the house and the village are. Absolutely felt at home the local people are very friendly. The pub was welcoming, dog friendly and the food was fantastic. It is on the Coast to coast route so lots of local walks both short and longer if you wanted them were apleanty. I could not recommend the location enough. We will be back x

Lovely cottage ideally located on the edge of Windermere town, Walked to the lake and travelled by boat to Brockhole and returned on the bus. Good transport and restaurants. Thank you Mark - we really enjoyed our stay.

We had a wonderful three-night stay at Joanne and Brian’s cottage in Scotby. The home is beautifully furnished, incredibly clean, and finished to a high standard. We especially appreciated the story of Madge and Flo—the old photographs and renovation history added so much character and charm. The location is quiet but conveniently close to Carlisle, making it a great base for exploring the area. Joanne and Brian were excellent hosts—very responsive and helpful. A small issue with the Hive was quickly resolved, and we appreciated their attentiveness. The welcome basket with wine, snacks, and quality mattresses were lovely touches that made our stay extra comfortable. We’d highly recommend this cottage to anyone and would definitely return!

Location was great, plenty of things to do around the area and 10 mins away from Ambleside with even more to do and it was a beautiful drive. We would definitely recommend this place to stay if you’re visiting the Lake District.
