Family-friendly vacation rentals in Alexandria

Marla & her Eagle’s Nest cottage were super and we highly recommend them! We came for a family Ontario nature & lake getaway and left restored. Marla is a thoughtful host who was flexible and supportive without being obtrusive. Our elderly mum was able to navigate the property with her walker or cane and enjoyed the sandy beach access with clear water to swim and canoe. The place was very clean, fresh, and beautifully appointed with all the important modern conveniences for the kitchen- including an ice cream maker! Ample parking. Some mosquitoes as expected at dusk (would it be summer in Ontario without them?!)- bring bug dope if you are sensitive. Clean hot tub with free star-gazing. Hope to come back.

Erin's place was wonderful for our family of 12! We agree with the other reviews - the photos don't do it justice. It was clean and well-equipped. The only negative was that we arrived on a very hot and humid day, so we definitely very hot, with no AC. We brought some fans and did purchase some larger fans. The kitchen was perfect - we made most of our meals. We did go out one night and the Gran View and really like that suggestion. The paddle boards/kayaks and floats were so nice to not have to rent. The river is super calm before and after storms or in the mornings. We rented a pontoon boat from Wellsey Island, and it was dropped off at a nearby marina. We docked the boat on one side or the other of the dock, depending on the current or rough waters. We loved the quiet road for walks, and only a 25 minute drive to A-bay. The grill worked well. All in all, it was a great place!

We had a great family week away at David’s place and as a host he was super helpful. The view from the window/hot-tub/deck was fantastic, shame we could not bring it home with us! The weather was not great for the week, meaning limited time on the lake. We did manage a day on a hired boat, the other days we went on day trips to local towns and Ottawa by train from Brockville. We also did a city cruise of 1000 islands and attended the annual 1000 islands rib fest. The house was well equipped with all we needed for a great family stay and a relaxing week. For a BBQ recommend a trip to “The Butcher Shop”.

We stayed at Robin’s place for a weekend with 3 other families. Had a wonderful time and made full use of the great facilities. Highly recommended.

We had an amazing week at the cottage. It's a beautiful location that felt very private. Some days it was like we had the lake to ourselves. The cottage and the surrounding property are well maintained and was a great fit for our family of 5. Thank you Lindsay and Kristian!

We loved our stay on Fairy Lake Island. Kim was a wonderful host who went above and beyond to insure we had everything we needed or wanted during our stay. The house was thoughtfully supplied with every amenity. The many outdoor spaces to relax and enjoy the amazing views were perfect. Every evening was a spectacular sunset with the best view on the lake. We couldn't ask for a better experience.

Great long weekend stay! The lower cottage was clean and had a beautiful view. The property had a lot of activities and things to do. A lot of canoes/kayaks freely available. Marla was an attentive, responsive host. Would stay again!

Julie sent us the cottage address and more information well in advance of our arrival. She was friendly and even though she lives close by we couldn't see her house and she gave us total privacy. The hot tub was so amazing and secluded. The house was warm and clean. Very quiet location. We will definitely visit again! Thank you Julie!

Great location, close to the main attractions. If you want peaceful this is your place. Water access at your home, if you are looking to rent a boat I recommend MAC who is in town.

The Retreat is a cozy place to stay in. Very accommodating and clean. Close to the places we like to hike and eat at. Already booked it for Fall 2025! Thank you Erin!!!

Lauren was an absolute amazing host! Cannot say enough! The day of check-in was the day the remnants of a hurricane came through and there was flooding throughout the town. Lauren was right there to help guide us to the home. She called to make sure we were okay when the town put out a no travel order due to roads being flooded. She even walked through 3 feet of water to bring us food since our main road was flooded!! Honestly she went above and beyond as a host! Just shows she is a great human! Even with being stuck with the flooding we still had such a great time! Had to take it one day at a time. The home was absolutely amazing and just so peaceful and private. It’s absolutely beautiful where the home is. Definitely recommend! Thank you Lauren!

Good location close to queens and great to have the doggone stay with us!! Well worth the money and we hope to stay again when the best Usport football team (go hawks) is playing in town.

Great place! We had plenty of space and everything we needed was provided. Location worked great for us to access the trail system and we would definitely rent again!

This is a great cottage. Just remember that when booking, it’s a cottage. Lots of fans in the house to move air and lots of windows. There are 4 bedrooms and it’s hard to tell I. The photos but 3 upstairs and the master on the living room landing. Everything is labeled really well and easy to find, lots of lighting and space. Outside has a great deck and a little bit of grass. It’s all mostly in the woods and might seem more open in the photos cause they are taken in fall or spring I would assume. The path down is sloped with gravel path. It could be tricky if you have mobility issues. But it’s fine if you’re not running. Just keep an eye on young kids and tell them to walk and they will be fine. The water… wow. It’s awesome. Good dock for a boat, awesome swimming off the dock (deep water) fish all around, no weeds and clean warm water. It’s a 10 out of 10 for me with the water. Jonathan is a good host and was kind. Would recommend him as a host. Bobs lake is beautiful

This is beautiful old home. Loved the porch! Seating in the kitchen and living room was big enough for our whole group of 10. Richard was wonderful to work with. It's a great property!

First time Airbnb user. What a GREAT place and experience! I was very nervous about the whole process. The owners put all that to rest quickly. Answered all questions faster than I expected. Provided detailed instructions, Harbor House is right on the water literally floating, with a great view of the river. It was very clean, and ready early for our visit. Our fall visit was only 3 days but we all absolutely enjoyed it. The kitchen, furniture, beds with linens, bathrooms with towels all were perfect. Parking was good as well. Evenings were spent on the porch talking, and of course, enjoying cocktails. Given it was October, we even had perfect weather, close to 70. The great weather was compliments of the owners at no charge. What a GREAT STAY! I would absolutely recommend this place.

We stayed here 1 night with our dogs and loved it! The property is beautiful and right along the water. Canoes and kayaks were right next to our rental which was awesome. The town with a bunch of restaurants is only 5 min away. We will definitely be back!!

Wow, what a gorgeous place!! The pictures don't do justice to how beautiful and peaceful the setting is and how unique and interesting the cottage is. We loved everything about it, and we spent hours just sitting on the balcony watching local boat traffic as well as giant tankers and freighters go by. It's an easy walk into Alex Bay and a short drive to Clayton where there's a better selection of restaurants.

Was blown away by this beautiful home. Could not have asked for a better spot for our family vacation.

What a beautiful place! The location is great and the grounds are peaceful and pretty private considering how close it is to ABay. My only complaint is that the pull out bed in the couch was noisy. My kid is a restless sleeper and every time they turned over the bed was squeaky and woke us all up. The pool was fabulous and we had it all to ourselves. Would def recommend!
