Our short stay at Fox Cottage was amazing. The property is beautiful, spotless and comfortable. The views are spectacular! Andrew was a great host, very responsive and helpful and we really appreciated the very kind welcome hamper! Loads to do and see and there were even toys for our young son to play with! We loved it so much we’ve booked for next year!

We were so pleased to find this gem for a last minute night away - we wish we could have stayed longer! The hut has everything you could possibly need (we were particularly impressed by the DVD collection!!) It was very clean and the decor made it extra cosy. We especially LOVED feeding the cute donkeys and stargazing in the hot tub - the views are just incredible. Nicola was a lovely host making sure we had all the information we needed, wishing us a safe journey and left us some goodies for our stay!! Thank you so much for having us 🤍

Alders cottage is a cosy cottage with beautiful interior and a cosy garden which we enjoyed our dinner and ice lollies on. The view is spectacular and the neighbours are really friendly. Although the description of the property says that it is not suitable for children, we took our four children and they loved it; there aren’t any stair gates and the stairs are creaky (for when you want to sneak out of the bedroom during bedtime), however, there were no concerns for the safety of our children. There is a supermarket a short drive away and a local corner shop a 2 minute walk away. Felicity’s responses have been swift and she is very friendly and accommodating. I’d lost my AirPods in the property and without hesitation, Felicity did what she could to get them back to me, as quick as possible. If you’re looking for a break from the city, or need a calm place before going to Alton Tower, I would very much recommend Alders cottage.

My husband and I had a fantastic stay at Mary's place! The cottage is just as described and in a beautiful and peaceful location. All of the instructions Mary provided were easy to follow, and while we didn't meet in person, Mary was communicative and available if needs be. We hope to return again soon!

A beautiful cottage, with a charming layout, making the most of the fantastic views. We could have sat watching the views for hours and were only sorry we didn't have more time to enjoy the terrace! It was well appointed and felt very homely. We loved how convenient it was for walking into Matlock Bath (only 5 minutes) with its fish and chip shops, ice cream parlours, amusements and lovely riverside walk and 2 play parks. What a great location for us as a family and it was very handy to be able to leave the car at the house and walk to the cable cars for the Heights of Abraham. We appreciated the milk and tin of chocolate biscuits. One tip for anyone who visits is to park at the top of the house, and not take the car around to the front of the house to save having to reverse up the steep hill as the road at the bottom has now been cordoned off. Ally & Simon are incredibly great & helpful hosts. Their accommodation is absolutely spot on, clean & modern. Beautiful garden and the whole house. Definitely recommend staying there, very close to the town centre, great location. Parking spot in front of the house. We will be definitely coming back. Thank you for having us & the support on marathon. Definitely people that they care about their guests & their place.

This is a terrific place, great location, great ambience, everything you need, right in the heart of Stow. It's a small place tucked into the attic space so there's a few quirks. If it was my place, I'd do better than a curtain between the bedroom and the bathroom, something better than a see-through blind on the skylight right over the bed, and somewhere, anywhere, to hang a towel in the bathroom (simple hook over the shower screen?). Not to mention the kitchen drawer that only opens when the oven door is open! But as a guest, if these things are likely to bother you you're not reading this, you've already booked a hotel somewhere with the tour groups. Instead you've got a place full of character in a top location. Overall this was a great Cotswolds stay. We loved it. Highly recommended.
