You could easily walk by Faro without realizing you'd passed a Michelin-star rated restaurant. It may be inconspicuous, but it's one of the best meals you can have anywhere in NYC. Although it isn't cheap, this pasta-focused spot will give you a unique culinary experience you won't soon forget.

I will very controversially say this is the best pizza in NYC. Delicious, chewy sourdough pizzas with fresh and unique toppings. Tip: every wine they have is sold by the glass at $12, and even better: you don't have to tip at Ops! Get a glass of orange wine...it's not what you might thing, but is absolutely delicious.

A personal favorite, simply because they program music that you won't be able to see live in many places besides NYC. Hip, low-key, experimental, plus an outdoor seating area. You'll have to hop on the L train to get to it.

Who knew you could be transported straight from industrial Bushwick to tropical Nicaragua? This is a rum lover's paradise, with some seriously delicious coastal Latin-inspired bites to match (think: langostino tacos). Tip: try the rum flight to sample some of the most unexpected flavors you'll ever get from a spirit usually (sadly) limited to piña coladas.

Yes, within a few blocks from my apartment you can find 3 different kinds of breweries!!! But BCH might be the most fun of all. Authentic Basque-style dry ciders are fermented on-premises in HUGE (you've got to see) casks. Tip: do the prix fixe; you won't regret it! 5 courses of food, each paired with a free-flowing cider poured straight from the barrel in a unique communal setting. You'll try great food, cider, and also make new friends.
