Vacation rentals in Talviainen

The Airbnb is on a remote island in a lake, only to be reached by boat. No running water is available, so be aware that you will not have your daily morning shower (but a dip in the lake instead?), a water toilet or you can waste drinking water. Water for doing the dishes and "shower" comes from the lake, drinking water needs to be carried with you or has to be organized. The toilet is a classical outhouse. All this worked well for me, I even enjoyed this style of living for a few days. It gets you back to basics and makes you rethink or value your "normal" style of living. I especially enjoyed the absolute quietness with basically no human made sound. Hannu and Erja are two open-minded and kindhearted people, it was a joy to learn to know them. They let me use their sauna for free, we chatted, had a coffee together and just were good neighbors. I highly appreciate the opportunity they offer through Airbnb for living my dream of "a real Finnish experience". I would totally come back!

Beautiful house and decor, jogging trail next door, lake and beach nearby, Isojärvi National Park and great hiking trails 20 minutes by car

Amazing cottage at the lake even for a bigger group of people! We had an wonderful time there!

We had a great stay there with our 3 teenagers. The place is very quiet and peaceful, perfect for a relaxing holiday. There are also lots of activities for everyone to enjoy at the house. Jari is a great and caring host. He answered all our questions ahead of our arrival and gave us clear explanations at the check-in... It made our stay so enjoyable!

Great cottage in a beautiful location. The windows offer a bunch of views. Even though the cottage doesn't look big, it can accommodate a surprising number of people. We were also a big family of 7 people, including 2 adults and other children. The cottage has almost all the amenities and is missing, you get used to it quickly. Kids, even loved going to the outdoor toilet. Dishwashing this way in the fall is a bit challenging, but you get used to it too. There is a wood sauna on the beach with lovely steam. There's also a lot to sit and enjoy nature's sounds and star flights in the fall. I recommend it to everyone.

We had a very nice week in March at the cabin. There was everything we needed in terms of amenities and even more. Arttu responded super quickly and kindly to each of our questions. The cabin is beautifully situated on a lake by the forest and guarantees privacy and rest. We were also able to use the sauna and fireplace on the cold days and there was enough wood. We would recommend it to anyone and came back home very well recovered!

The place was just as we expected based on the photos and presentation, everything was clean and functional. The location was top-notch, and the yard of the cottage was beautiful and well-maintained. Both the main building and sauna cabin were cozy, the lakeside sauna had beautiful views of the lake. The equipment included everything you need. We had a great week.

Still a great place to stay on a work trip.
