It is quiet, yet within 15 mins walk of Matakana, home to boutique shopping, galleries, cafes, restaurants, wine bars and a cinema complex. The village is the vibrant heart of the picturesque Matakana Wine Region with its numerous vineyards and olive groves and craft breweries. It is peaceful and quiet amongst the trees and a perfect place for a break. It is designed for couples and regret we cannot take children.

With a choice of vineyards, breweries, strawberry picking or walking the trails of the Riverhead Forest there is something for everyone. 15 mins drive to the beautiful black sand beach of Muriwai, famous for its gannet colony, surfing, golf course and stunning sunsets. Braemar Cottage is a fully self-contained spacious unit in the lovely Snells Beach. It has a gorgeous ocean view over Kawau Bay. Snells Beach is about an hour's north of Auckland and perfect for a quiet relaxed getaway. There are plenty of things to do nearby from visiting charming country cafes and wineries, or shopping at the local farmer's markets, or even taking a day trip to explore Kawau Island. If you want to explore or relax closer to the cottage, the beach is only 500m away.

Our space is great for travelers who enjoy wineries, breweries, cafes, beaches, walks, cinema (boutique), Saturday markets, Goat Island and a variety of places to visit and explore within easy distance. Nearby is the ferry for a day at Kawau Island. The downstairs studio is private but we are close by and pleased to help and chat if you choose. Warkworth has large grocery stores and shopping but we have a great new grocery shop and a local pub within walking distance.

We are only 75mins drive north of Auckland, 10 mins off the number one highway. The cottage is built from beautiful untreated hardwoods set in a tranquil private spot, nestled on the edge of a regenerating native forest. The cottage is only a 2min walk down to the beautiful Kaipara Harbour. Our place is part of a 25 year old 300 acre organic permaculture farm, which we were instrumental in setting up as a working farm and village style subdivision.
