Drinks & Nightlife

Great friendly staff in English style pub. Beer selection is small and expensive, but you're coming here for atmosphere and food.

Sightseeing

I love that you can sit and people watch under the beautiful pine trees. They are evenly spaced in a way that almost forces your mind into a more peaceful state. The perfectly manicured grounds transport you into an older version of Tokyo, right in the beating heart of the city. It would be wonderful to be able to explore inside the palace grounds, but the view of the buildings inside are enough to stimulate the imagination. If the weather is right, definitely sit beneath a tree and meditate or read a book. It's a wonderful place to catch your breath in such a bustling city.

Parks & Nature

An astonishing park from every point of view. Quiet, guarded from the busy streets of Tokyo with families playing and eating with their kids or friends. Beautiful views in the park it self with two fountains and a small pond, on the other side you see the wast Tokyo skyline stretching itself over the tree tops. Very much recommended if you need a break from the "normal" Tokyo. Also, I enjoyed eating breakfast/ lunch there. Buy it in advance at the metro and eat it here.

One of Tokyo's oldest gardens and also one of it's best. It's a stroll garden and takes about 45m to walk round at a leisurely pace while taking some pictures. It's worth visiting in the different seasons to see how the garden changes. The only downside is the close proximity to Tokyo dome, which can spoil the tranquillity of the garden.

Arts & Culture

Really interesting place if you enjoy learning about war. The letters from Japanese soldiers are really a treat to read, although the museum is obviously very Pro-Japanese and extremely one sided in its re telling of history. I want to visit again. You can spend hours here looking at all the exhibits so make sure you have ample time. Pretty much everything is translated in English also.
