Champs is the local 100% vegan diner and it's delicious. I'm 100% not-vegan, and I still have enjoyed most of the things on the menu, even when the item is confusingly labeled as an omelette.

It's hard to find good, affordable italian food in NYC, but I've found it and it's extremely close to my apartment. Make sure you sit outside on the back patio, and bring cash, because it's cash only.

Walk from the apartment through Williamsburg, then eat something delicious & drink something intoxicating at Styx, then hop to WNYC Transmitter Park, walk out onto the pier & see Manhattan up close.
