Great Vietnamese cafe in Deptford: quite basic decor, traditional style of cooking, relaxed atmosphere, and you can bring your own beer, which adds to the great value for money. There are quite a few Vietnamese cafes in Deptford, do let us know if you find any more special stand outs!

Delicious and fancy Spanish deli and restaurant, run by an awesome Spanish lady who is passionate about the produce that she personally imports. Not cheap, but worth it for a special occasion.

The centre of trendy Peckham, although I am no doubt showing my irrelevance here by being a few months out of date, it's still a fun visit, with decent bars, Rye Wax record shop in the basement, and a rooftop cinema.

London's first community-owned pub. If you want the best of the traditional British pub experience, this is the place, with beautiful wood panelling, a different vibe in each room, a covered beer garden for rainy summers and roaring fires in the winter. Sometimes does barbecues and always has a strong craft beer selection. Bit out of the way in terms of public transport, we tend to go here on a quiet Sunday walk through the cemetery.

The overground and Southern rail lines from Brockley station are by far the easiest ways to explore London - strongly recommended above taking a car!

Arts & Culture

I'm not listing a lot here because you've probably done your own research, and London is huge, but this place is a little less well-known, and great fun, popular with kids. If you go on a Saturday there is a decent farmers market in their beautiful gardens, with a great view of the city. Don't miss the overstuffed walrus.
