vegan food to shout about! Such a great breakfast with the best potato pancakes in existence and the only place to get espresso drinks with non-dairy.

The best fries in the city. And if you're a meat-eater: the best mussels (so I hear). Pretty much anything you order here will be delicious and is a great pick for mixed groups of meat-eaters and vegetarians. I love the cranberry walnut salad with a big pile of fries. Or the veggie burger. Or the super thin crust pizza. Not to mention great craft beer and cocktails.

Italian Cappuccino and a 10 minute walk from there up to the historic highland park with gorgeous flowers, a restored fountain, large old trees, and a reservoir. Not to mention jazz every Sunday evening in August!

Vegan gourmet. Paired with upscale, modern decor. The first time I went here, I thought of Los Angeles' Abbot Kinney street trendy restaurants.

It's a punk pizza parlor with the best pizza in town. Including vegan options for toppings and gluten free crusts! I haven't had their wings or subs but those who have had them have great compliments.

A taste of old Pittsburgh in this area known as "The Strip" where you'll find plenty of vendors of Pittsburgh-related gear (Steelers shirts, anyone?) as well as The Pennsylvania Macaroni Company old world market, a chocolate shop, cafes, an authentic Polish deli (seriously good), and diners.

Well not really a park but a botanical garden that's a wonderful, earthy escape from the city. Located in the heart of Oakland so if you have plans to visit Pitt, this is a great place to have lunch and soak in some nature.
