Food Scene

We love going to Peak Place for the coffee anytime of the day. The vibe is relaxing inside for work, or conversation with a friend. The patio is nice to sit on for brunch on Saturday's or in the afternoon to share a bottle of wine. A fun photo op is available there too. It's a must stop!

Pizza Time is a family owned business that has great pizza, sandwiches, Taco Tuesday, and gluten free options. They are a huge supporter of the local schools and give back to the community. Super Family Friendly.

If you like to be adventurous, this is the place to eat. It is Latin American food with a Caribbean twist. It's a small place so don't be surprised if you have to wait a few minutes but it will be worth it. I love the tacos and the spicy margaritas. Piglatin Cocina is a short drive or long walk from the house and it has late hours, closed on Sunday.

Dollar Ice Cream cones the size of your fist! trust me, if you want a GREAT soft serve cone of chocolate, vanilla, or twist this is the spot. They also have a flavor of the week! If you don't like soft serve they are most affordable homemade hard scoop and gelato shop in town. Highly recommended!

In the center of Colorado Springs we have this wonderful Park that is great for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, walking the dogs and for the amazing views. This is one of our family favorite spots because it only take 15 minutes to drive there and you can choose easy - difficult trails depending on your mood. The beautiful sandstone pillars and pinion pine smells with the awesome views makes this a worthy stop.

Stunning views, and a gorgeous drive! $35 dollars for a vehicle to drive up. Plan at least 4-5 hours to drive up, look around, and take some side roads around the reservoirs. A fun adventure most days. Best time to go is early in the morning as the clouds and storms come in the afternoon.

Drinks & Nightlife

Bristol Brewery is one of the best breweries in Colorado, IMO. They started out as very small brewery mostly known for its Laughing Lab Scottish ale. They grew out of there little place and decided to take on the re-purposing of an old elementary school just a couple blocks away. Now the Ivywild School is one of the best one stop shops for a unique eating and drinking experience. The Principals office makes a great cup of coffee or some of the best and most unique cocktails around. I promise going to the principals office is worth it. You can go downstairs to the former kindergarten classroom that is now the Ax and Oak distillery. The bathrooms still have original school art on the walls.

We love stopping at Breweries. This brewery has one of our favorite IPA's. It's a small place that has a family friendly vibe with free popcorn and board games. You can order dinner from the pizza place or Schnitzel place, they bring it to your table. Stop in before or after a movie or some shopping.

Entertainment & Activities

Rated as one of America's favorite zoos. This zoo is on the side of the mountain and home to the largest zoo giraffe herd in the world. You can actually hand feed the giraffes lettuce that the zoo sells. The zoo has several other interactive exhibits too. The animal exhibits feel very organic and embrace the terrain of the mountain. Plus, gorgeous views of the city and the front range. Plan for 2-5 hours.

Patty Jewett is a city owned golf course. We are a family that likes to golf and this is an affordable option. The course is beautiful with lots of interest. The carrot cake isn't bad either. Sometimes people get married there too.

It's no longer a penny, but for a quarter it's a great way to spend a nice evening strolling around downtown Manitou and enjoying a local favorite. My personal favorites are the horse races and having my fortune read by Zoltan.

This is the closest laundromat that I know of. I have been there a couple of times to do large loads. It seems safe and clean. The dryers are super hot, so be careful not to overheat your clothing.
