Drinks & Nightlife

The Trastevere district is about 10 minutes walking from the apartment. Full of pubs, clubs, bars, stores, restaurants, Trastevere is very picturesque and has its own center in Piazza della Santa Maria in Trastevere. Very crowded during the weekend (most of all young people), the district is the right place for drinking a glass of wine and have a good appetizer.

Food Scene

It is the right place where to eat the pizza "roman style" (thin-crust pizza). The owners are the member of a family from the south of Italy, the beautiful land of Calabria. There you can eat also the famous starters of Roman cuisine: the supplì (fried balls of rice with tomato and mozzarella inside), the flowers of zucchini (fried flowers of zucchini with mozzarella and anchovies inside) olive ascolane (fried olives with meat inside) and many other. Everything is delicious and for the right price.

The bakery house is located between Campo dei Fiori and via Arenula, few steps from the bridge Ponte Sisto, on the opposite side of the river. With four generations behind, now the family grocer is one of the most important bakeries in the city. The family Roscioli opened its first store in 1824. Inside you can eat the very authentic Roman pizza. It means "white" (only with olive oil and salt), "red" (olive oil, salt and tomatoes) and "with mortadella" (white with mortadella inside, one of the most delightful types of cured meat in Italy). Obviously, Roscioli sells also many kinds of bread, desserts and products of Italian tradition.

Sightseeing

We also recommend you to take your time for a walk in the beautiful terrace of Gianicolo. It is located at the back of the building and for reaching this place you have to walk on an incline for 10 minutes. Don't worry, you will be rewarded for your little effort! In the end, it is the most beautiful and romantic view of Rome. From the top of hill of Gianicolo you can see all the most important monuments of Rome and, at the distance of 20 km from the city, the little towns on the mountains (Frascati, Palestrina, Monteporzio, etcetera). It is a lovely place!

There are so many important monuments and places close to the apartment. The Saint Peter's Basilica (it's free, you don't have to pay, link Wikipedia), the Castle fo Saint Angel and the Villa Farnesina (paintings of Raffaello, link Wikipedia) are about 5 minutes walking from the house. Obviously, also the famous Vatican Museum is in the same district. Anyway, if you are planning to go there, don't forget that in front of the entrance there is always a long queue. So, if want to visit the Museum, we suggest you to book on-line the tickets. Booking in advance is the better way to avoid the queue: they fix you an appointment and you can go directly to the entrance.
