Cakes here are amazing. Best chocolate croissants ever. If they have the peanut butter and chocolate brownies it is your lucky day. Arrive early though or you might miss out. Open Th- Sunday only,

Coffee here is great and lovely home-made cakes. Good selection of brunch dishes. The cafe is a social enterprise and offers language classes to adults and kids and employment opportunities to local women. My favourite place nearby.

Amazing home cooked punjabi veggie place. Very cheap. No alcohol served. Very small and if you don't want to wait for a table you can get food to take away.

Classic Glasgow/Irish bar. In existence long before O'Neills and all the other fake Irish bars!

Used to be an old man's pub. Now an old man's pub with added Southside hipsters. Craft beer and great gin selection.

Mainly a bar but look out for club nights as well. Carribean themed and serves food as well. Personally I had not great experience with the food but i know others who like it. As a bar it is good fun and lively and has some outside space for those very occasional Glasgow evenings when sitting outside is possible.

Great local bar, which has been around a lot longer than most other places in the area. Has seats out front which are right in the sun. Lovely, friendly staff and food in restaurant is pretty good as well.

Arts & Culture

Art, dance, theatre - all on show here at what is probably Glasgow's most renowned arts venue. Hosted Turner Prize couple of years ago. There is also a nice garden out back. Sadly the cafe is rubbish with generic, factory made food but there are plenty of others nearby.

A few different spaces in one place. Street level is a very well respected photography gallery.

Getting Around

buses into city centre. No 4 goes up to Charing Cross where you can walk to the increasingly foodie hub of Finnieston, and then down University Avenue/Byres Road which is the heart of the West End. No 6 goes up to Great Western Road also in West End.

train to central station takes less than 10 minutes. I never really use it and tend to get bus, but it is handy if that is where you need to go.
