Requisitioned by the army during the war, the remains can be visited at weekends by the pubic at weekends and bank holidays. Combine with a walk down to the lovely and secluded Worbarrow Bay for a gentle swim.

The dramatic ruined castle is worth a visit for its own sake. But it's worth taking the steam train down to Swanage. This is famous five country and it feels like it! Food in Corfe isn't great but a few minutes drive away is The Scott Arms, Kingston which is great and has stunning views of the castle
