Fantastic brunch at this local Jasper eatery with constantly rotating menu! Make sure to check the calendar to ensure they're open and get reservations if you want to go for dinner. My party went for brunch and the fried green tomato sandwich is one of the best things I've eaten period. Grits are super fluffy and bacon crispy. We also deeply enjoyed the lamb quiche and omlets. Finish it off with a crumble and phenomenal carrot cate. They have a small but solid selection of beers and wines to keep you liquid.

A short, paved trail behind the park office is suitable for wheelchairs and strollers, welcoming guests to explore a reconstructed 1860s homestead. The gravel-topped 4 mile Iron Hill Trail is open to both hikers and bikers, offering pretty views of the lake’s shoreline.

Vogel State Park is a 233-acre (0.94 km2) or 94 hectares state park located at the base of Blood Mountain in the Chattahoochee National Forest. It became one of the first two parks in Georgia when it founded a state park system in 1931.[1][2] Much of the park was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930s. The park features streams, a waterfall, and Lake Trahlyta.[3] At 2,500 feet (760 m) elevation it is one of Georgia's highest altitude state parks. The mountainous habitats surrounding the lake support a wide assortment of plants and animals. Within the park are a series of hiking trails. These include the Bear Hair Gap Trail and the more strenuous Coosa Backcountry Trail, which leads up toward Blood Mountain and the Appalachian Trail near Neel Gap. Vogel Park features camping sites, cabins, swimming, boating and other recreational activities.

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is a 2,965 acre National Battlefield that preserves a Civil War battleground of the Atlanta Campaign. Opposing forces maneuvered and fought here from June 19, 1864 until July 2, 1864. Although most famous as a Civil War battlefield, Kennesaw Mountain has a much richer story. The Battle of Kennesaw Mountain was one of the more significant clashes of the Atlanta Campaign. With 'one last mountain' standing between William Sherman and Atlanta, the stakes are incredibly high.

Washington strongly believed that agriculture and vocational education were key to advancing a newly freed race to a better life and not the pursuit of civil rights.
