Food Scene

The food is outstanding with amazing homemade soups, salads, bison-ravioli and burgers as well as a great vegetarian menu. Staff is always delightful and efficient. Patio dining in good weather is the best!

Buena Vista's main coffee house hang-out! Their breakfast burritos are my favorite quick breakfast before heading up the Midland Trail nearby. Fun to go enjoy a cappuccino while playing chess outdoors on their patio and watch the world go by.

Amazing food, affordably-priced. Serving dinner year-round but even in slower times you will want to call ahead and make a reservation or you may not get in.

Always a lively place in an historic building the Lariet serves the best burger in town and often hosts live music.

Parks & Nature

Inter-Laken is a closely held local's favorite, just 17 miles north of Buena Vista. The easy 2.5 mile hike in along the west side of Twin Lakes to the historic resort from the 1800's is amazing! Hiking in the summer and snow-shoeing in the winter you can take a picnic lunch and enjoy some of the most stunning scenery Colorado has to offer. The buildings are being renovated and you can now enjoy walking through the Dexter Cabin. Sign the guestbook and close the door behind you! But shhhh! Don't tell TOO many people about it!

You can enjoy the mountains in this National Forest area, whether you like to hike (look for wilderness trails), ride on ATV's, mountain bike or horseback ride. Gets pretty crowded in the summer weekends but not too bad during the week and almost deserted in the cooler months.
