Bike Hire and trails in the Peak District

Sightseeing

There are a number of family friendly bike trails built on old train routes (thanks to Beeching) . Usually flat or with a slight incline, in the middle of the countryside, well away from traffic and with cafes and bike hire stations. MIDDLEWOOD WAY, MONSAL TRAIL, TISSINGTON TRAIL, HIGH PEAK TRAIL, MANIFOLD WAY, Ladybower Reservoir
8 Miles; ALL Traffic Free,. Park at Millers Dale station car park. Thanks to a recent £2.5 M restoration this is just the most amazing bike trail - virtually flat on account of it being a disused rail track so great for kids- all built by hand in the 1800’s . Some incredible feats of engineering . A huge viaduct to cycle over, tunnels, bridges, huge limestone valleys, mills and a river. And the Monsal head pub if you don’t mind the climb . It Starts just the other side of Buxton and ends somewhere near Chatsworth. Breathtaking scenery . Bike Hire at Blackwell Mill Bike Hire. Approx 8k each way.

The Monsal Trail -A great bike trail on an old rail track, recently opened after they spent £2million re-opening the tunnels. A fairly flat way of seeing the peak district!
