Pier 3 is a great place to explore. There is a maze of winding trails on the north side of the pier that lead to secret little nooks. There are nice open spaces as well.

Governor's Island is a beautiful place and a different perspective on the city. There is a playground, an old fort and an old US military station with houses and office buildings. You can rent bikes too.

Parking at 360 Furman Street, City Parking, is very convenient but you have to make a reservation. There is a small parking garage near by, 44 State Street Garage, as well.
