This is the best beachfront restaurant, bar, and live music hangout near us. Popular with locals and travelers, it can get noisy and busy so go early. Tuna dip, salads, and fish are always fantastic.

Just a couple miles from our house, this is an amazing place for calm waters in a protected waterway at the edge of the channel. Snorkel the rocks along our jetties and see fish, octopus, seahorses, sting rays and all types of marine life. $8 entry fee per car load. Hike through trails, grab a ferry to Shell Island or see alligators and deer at a couple of viewing points along the way.

Multiple public boat ramps along S. of grand lagoon on S. Lagoon St. make this my favorite walking area of the panhandle. This old school style Florida neighborhood is a fun golf cart, biking, or walking area with an eclectic blend of old school Florida housing mingled with new construction popping up everywhere. Take a peak out on the public boat ramp areas to see pristine calm water views at sunrise or sunset. Launch your own jet skiis or boats and take a quick ride out to Shell Island.

Local Attraction

One of my boys favorite local spots, this educational facility wows every time we visit with trained small animal shows, interactive exhibits with great photos ops like swimming with dolphins or petting stingrays, and a fun shark tank where you can see all sorts of sea life in action.

What to pack

Bring flip flops, a beach towel, and all the relax vibes!

Quiet, residential neighborhood walking distance to boat ramps or the beach. Bring your swim clothes, flip flops, a beach towel and your cooler! Fantastic fishing spots nearby so bring your poles if you fish. Publix, Winn Dixie and Wal Mart all 5 - 10 minutes from the house so easy on supplies.
