Sightseeing

This amazing trail spans a greater part of the North Olympic Peninsula. You can access the trail by walking to the top of the hill and turning right on Dawley Road. This road will lead you into Sequim Bay State Park. You can also take the trail left to access South Sequim Bay and Blyn. Either way, it is excellently maintained and scenic along its length.

In the summer months, this 7-8 mile roundtrip trek is worth the effort. At the mine site, peer into tunnels and mine shafts. Continue further into the alpine terrain to see the wreckage of a B-17 plane that crashed in 1952.

Traveler advice

Getting around

Ferry Schedules

If you are taking ferries to the Peninsula, be aware of ferry schedules and updates. Getting back to the mainland can require long wait times, especially in the summer months. If you are departing on a Sunday, you might want to alter your travel plans to leave early, as ferries tend to back up in the afternoon. Download the WSDOT App, as it has the most up to date information on ferry schedules.
Getting around

Hood Canal Bridge Closures

The Hood Canal Bridge will open for marine traffic. Bridge openings usually last less than 30 minutes. Occasionally, the bridge will be closed for longer periods overnight for repair and maintenance. The most up to date information can be found using the WSDOT app.
Getting around

Traveling to SeaTac Airport

Consider using the Tacoma Narrows Bridge instead of ferries, especially if your time window is narrow. Ferries can fill up, and missing a ferry may cause you to miss a flight.
