This Starbucks is located in the upstairs of the QFC, and has a great view of the neighborhood. The folks who work there are the nicest! And it's 2 blocks from our house, so convenient.

Very satisfying cheap Pho restaurant. Abundant noodle bowls are perfect on a cold evening, or anytime. The place has simple, functional ambience, but that's not the reason to go there.

There is always a line at Fainting Goat, but it always moves fast enough to make it entirely worth the wait. Great gelato, seasonal flavors and a good selection. TEMPORARILY CLOSED as of March 2024, they are moving up the street but have not yet re-opened.

There is also always a line at Molly Moon's, because the ice cream is just that good. Seasonal flavors, very creative menu. The line here does not move so fast, though, so here is a tip: if you just want a pint (and not a hand dipped cone or sundae), you can skip the line, go grab the pint from the cooler, head straight to the cashier, and boom! you're outta there in no time flat.

We have never eaten here, but there is always a long line of young folks outside waiting for a table, so we are guessing it is pretty good.

Their pizza is good, and they make gluten free options that are actually tasty. Plus, the service is great.

Mellow place, nice bar menu, decent wine list. Sometimes gets a little crowded. We have good luck getting a seat by going earlier.

Parks & Nature

One of the best views of downtown Seattle across Lake Union. Worth a picnic on a sunny day. Bring a kite, if that's your thing.

A short walk (just over a half mile) gets you to the most heavily used park in Seattle. There is a trail around the perimeter of Green Lake for bikes & pedestrians, as well as a community center with a pool, basketball courts, soccer fields and more. Shops and restaurants across the street from Green Lake on the eastern and northern edges. There are often events there on weekends, especially in the summer, and the people watching is never dull.

Beautiful seaside park along Puget Sound, 20 minute car ride, 40 min bike ride or one hour bus ride from our home. Views of nearby islands and the distant Olympic Mountains on a clear day, as well as sailboats, ferries, kite surfing, wildlife and more. Coming soon (May 2024?) is a concession stand for sandwiches, drinks and snacks. Parking can take a minute to secure, but it's worth it.

It's not really a mall, because it is in an old school building, and not so big as a mall. There are a couple of nice clothing stores for women's clothes or children's, and an import store, a yarn store, and a place to get your kid's hair cut.

Sightseeing

You can rent these cute little boats for $139/hr with a two hour minimum. It's like driving a super slow car, very chill, and a very fun way to explore Lake Union, into Fremont and up to the Montlake cut in the other direction.
