Off the beaten path food advice for this unique, bright neighborhood!
The. Hottest. Bar. In. The. Bay. Tastiest cocktails. Impeccable ambiance. Great food. Delectable. A serious treat. (But expect a wait, and go to Double Standard while you’re killing time!)

The best natural wine and highly curated menu you’ll find. One of the best meals I’ve ever had was here - comprised of small plates I still dream about. Great atmosphere and friendly people! Arrive at opening or around 8 to beat the crowds, they don’t take rezzos.

Highly recommend stopping in for a pint. Rose’s has some great brews, and is one of very few female-owned breweries. The atmosphere is also beyond amazing, an extremely photogenic place. Ask to sit on the back patio Thurs-Sun!

My favorite, super close spot for a daily rotating (very delicious) vegan meal. I’m not even vegan but I frequent Shangri-La weekly at least! This place has been here forever. The food always leaves me feeling full and nourished - especially great for travelers tired of having to eat out.

Your definition “hole in the wall” Mediterranean spot literally in the back of a (great) dive bar. They have limited seating so I usually order to-go. Phenomenal shawarma in a unique, slightly hilarious location. Free lentil soup and baklava included with every meal, which Wally himself will probably prepare for you!

Sightseeing

This is a path I love to walk my dog along via the Emeryville peninsula. Stunning views of San Francisco and a 360 degree view of the bay. Easy parking at the end of the peninsula and lots of great green space.

Highly recommend for thrift shopping. Nice range of highly sifted and selected stores like the Sunshine Prophecy, and places like The American Cancer Society that are less picked through to remind you of what thrifting used to be like. Not a neighborhood generally known for thrifting, but I’ve found some serious gems.

My favorite quaint little area on the Berkeley / Oakland border to shop with lots of great restaurants and bars.
