Al Capone built this place as a halfway stopover between Chicago and Miami. Now it's the nicest restaurant on the mountain. Call well in advance for reservations, depending on the season.

If you happen to arrive before 5pm on a weekday, you can stop by here to pick up healthy, pre-made meals to pop in the microwave. They're good enough and healthy enough that we usually have them for dinner at least twice a week! Their menu rotates weekly at mountaintoptn dot com

Our favorite hike on campus (so far) is Morgan's Steep to the Cross. Parking is kind of improvised around Morgan's Steep, but the hike right below it is wonderful.

It's about 1/2 hour drive, but well worth it if you have time! Gorgeous falls and beautiful scenery down river too. Wear good shoes for the climb down the rocks though!

Low effort -- huge payoff! This is right in our neighborhood, and the "hike" is more of a 1/2 mile stroll each way on level ground if you drive there. Or if you walk from our place, it’s closer to 3 miles round trip with an option to rest by the lake along the way. Take a right out of our driveway, then a left on Clifftops Ave, go past the lake and take a left onto Westlake. Then park at the end of the road and walk the old logging road into the woods (not the gravel driveway). You might not notice it on the way in, but coming back out there’s a fork in the path. Be sure to go left if you want to return to your car!

Stretch your legs after the drive here by hiking just 1/2 mile to the lake. Turn right out of our driveway, left on Clifftops Ave and you can't miss it!
